Hey guys this will be my first year going to the training camp and i would like to be able to take my son to get some autographs. the site says something about the first 100 to get there. could someone let me know if everyone or just a few get to take advantage of autographs? and if it does mean i have to be some of the first there what would be a good time to get there, i am going to the Saturday and Sunday morning practices. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks texansturningthecorner.

Here's how it has worked in the past. I am not complaining, don't know of a better and yet fair way to do it:

People line up at the gates 3+ hours before they open.
The first 50 (or so) people to the autograph area get red tickets. This means you're guaranteed an autograph.
You then have three choices:

1. Go watch camp, come back, and likely get someone to sign who won't make the team
2. Wait in line the entire time. They'll tell you how many people per line - there is usually one "great" line per session. Count the people ahead of you.
3. Take friends. Everyone takes a turn waiting in line while the other buddies/family members watch camp. This practice is generally accepted by the fans. Just be careful if you're trying to count the people ahead of you - some may have 3, 4, or 5 more people with them that are over watching camp.

Just how it has been done/unfolded in the past.

I'm not an autograph seeker but I've made a few observations over the years.

After practice there's a walkway that leads from the practice field, through the "fan zone" area and up the stairs to the bridges over Kirby. Many players walk back to Reliant using that route instead of riding the golf carts. The security folks barricade the walkway when the players start coming through but it creates a natural area for autographs and many players stop and sign.

There are no lines - you just have to work your way to the front when they pull the barricades across. Make sure it's your son who's holding out the item to be signed. Most veteran players don't like signing items held by an adult that look like they could end up on eBay. Rookies and first year players aren't as discriminating.

Your job is to help get the player's attention because some kids can be timid or overlooked. Just say "hey Dunta, how's it going?" "My son's a big fan, can you sign this for him?" (then point to your son who is standing in front of you). Nine times out of ten, you'll get your autograph. Sometimes players will work down an entire row of autogtraph seekers. Some players don't stop at all. If you're female and good looking, you might even get a player to pose with you for a picture.
