View Full Version : Five things I took from the game

1. The OL is improving but isn't there quite yet. OC and OG should be looked at in the draft. Give Schaub time and Slaton some consistent lanes to run through and this offense could be down right scary

2. Dejuan Robinson needs to be on the field ALOT more. This guy looked great today. Made alot of plays in the backfield.

3. I have great disdain for Morlon Greenwood. He is just not a good player and I am not sure I want him on the field at all. There was a run with a FB lead. Greenwood basically ignored the ball carrier to take on the FB, RB passed by for an additional 5 yards. Bone head.

4. I love Schaub's toughness in this game, bounced back after every tough hit, didn't lose compsure at any time. i know for some fans there will always be love for the back up QB, but Schaub is becoming a winning QB before our eyes.

5. Okoye also looked good today. ON Collins first INT he was in his face and basically Collins couldn't follow through because of it. Not to mention the HUGE stop of 3 rd down late in the game.

We are not far off from becoming a factor in the AFC. Some OL and DL help and some help in the secondary and we will be well on our way.

Congrats Texans on a fantastic game.

PS I hate Fat ALbert but man is he good.

I think the OL did pretty good considering there going against the best line in the nfl

thats what hes supposed to do, take on the fullback and stuff the hole. but the running lane was too wide to stuff. that is more of the d-line getting pushed around and demeco not there to clean it up.

What I took from the game is that the Titans are a fraud of a team...second rate secondary that depends on good front four and an offinse that is one dimensional. the Texans are closer to the top of division than everyone thinks.

I think the O line did a fine job against a very very tough and proven defense. The longer this unit works together the better they will be. Period

Only thing I might want for the O-Line is some depth in case of injury. They are still in the learning process... both the Gibbs system and each other, but I think they are ahead of the curve and getting better each game. Translation: They are pretty good and getting better. Translation of the translation: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

As far as Greenwood, with Adibi, Bentley, and Diles on the roster he may not be a starter next year. Not saying Greenwood isn't good, but those 3 kids seem to have a lot more to offer.

The OL played well but too often in this game and in others, the interior lineman are in our backfield. Don't get me wrong though, they are playing well. My only point in bringing this up was I would look to pick up a C in the draft. Depending on where we pick I would would love to trade back to pick up an extra pick and land Alex Mack.

On Greenwood, I know he is supposed to take on the FB, and I thought about commenting on that in my original post, but during the game and on the replay it looked like he could have gotten the RB near the LOS. It looked like he was TOO focused on his assignment, almost like a robot. One of the knocks on Greenwood is that he doesn't have great instincts, I think that play illustrated that fact.

I think Schaub had a different confidence and attitude around him. He had kind of a nastiness to him when he threw the ball like he wanted to shut up the Titans. All but one of the deep balls to Johnson were very good and he stood tall and delivered some strikes to the best WR in football. Also SHUTUP T.O. Oh sorry had to throw that in there. I also think we have one of the best #2 WR in Kevin Walter makes big third down catches and TD catches. Very reliable. The whole Texans team had kind of a swagger to it and an attitude I haven't seen in awhile and man it felt like a playoff team smashing another playoff team. Stupid Hurricane Ike if it wasn't for that we would probably have won or or 2 more games. Oh well here is to a great 6 game winning streak *crosses fingers*

Okoye breaking through to the O-Line to dump Lenwhale three yards behind the LOS was something I've been missing for a long time. I hope he picked up some confidence from that play.

Thought everyone had a good game. Some of the sacks I feel were on Shaub for not stepping up. Don't get me wrong thought he played a great game but when the DE's are taking a deep charge and the tackles are taking them deeper your QB has to step up or shorten his drop. Great job Texans, keep it up.

Agree, but understand something. Morlon Greenwood, yes I dislike him and all but:

I played for a defensive coordinator who played in the nfl and there was plenty of times our linebacker's job was to take out the full back to make sure the full back was out of the play and we all had a clean shot at the running back. Playing safety I appreciated that. We called it "f plays" and if we ever saw the f play develop (hole opens, full back leads) our linebacker unselfishly put a lick on the fullback and we would bring down the running back.

I know how it can look frustrating for fans watching him do that, but I am pretty sure its part of the scheme.

Agree with other 4 points, great win for the Texans.

I know what you are saying, but other LBs can take on blocks and still hit/tackle the RB at the same time - of course these are your top players. It was just a funny looking play, it looked like he robotically just went to the FB while ignoring the RB on this play. I wish I had video. I know what you mean about assignments though.
