Guys, I'd like to take a moment and eat some crow.
ive bashed schaub in the past and barked for a qb early in this years draft.
but those words were a little pre mature.
heres credit to where credit is due. the past two weeks matt has played fantastic. my only complaint is the sack-fumbles. hes got to get better at that but nothing experience will not rectify. hes been making great decisions with the football and in the games he has played is among the top 5 qbs in the leauge.
and oh btw, the refs didnt put up with any nonsense with the roughing the passer calls today and protected our qb like theyre supposed to - unlike weeks past.
hopefully he will not make a liar out of me again and go haywire next week in oakland - knock on wood.

I'm not gonna lie, I've been known to jump onto Schaub's case and denounce him on some threads. So I think I'll join you for a portion of crow simply because I had my doubts and he's done a great job in his starts this season to do what he can to win a football game. Turnovers are still an issue, but one I think he's working very hard at correcting. Although I haven't been as hard on him as others, I have had my moments of doubt and have a fork in hand and feathers on my chin. Keep it up Schaub!
[If my posts seem a little stranger than usual or if you notice my repeating myself on different threads, I'd just like to say that I'm getting used to some new medication. I'm a little loopy.]
[Again, if I start repea..... :D]

I'm going to have to eat some crow as well, as he's done one thing in the last two games that has really impressed me. He quickly has gone through his reads and then if nothing is there he "throws" the ball away, like a good QB should. He does have to protect the ball a little more though, the almost two turnovers nearly killed us.
Great Job Schaub.

I think hes still in the top 5 in QB rating. We just gotta find a way to keep him on the field for a full season. That amount of steady experience would go a long way for him.

I think we have to find a way to give him time in the pocket. He has proven last season and this season that he can destroy teams with his arm if given time.
The issues come in when we cannot give him time to throw or if he takes a few huge hits he gets knocked off his game. After the helmet to helmet shot by Finnagin I figured Matt was going to be thrown off his game... instead Schaub seemed unphased by the hit and the announcers even noticed it.
Schaub has never been afraid to take a hit for the team, but it was nice seeing the refs keep an eye on how teams have been going nuts on Schaub all season to throw him off his game. It actually looked like the Titans D was trying their best to rough Schaub up, but they were not successful this week.
Thanks for this post, for those of us that saw potential in Schaub it is not to see others enjoying what we saw!!!

Yeah, I'll have some crow. Schaub had a great game and answered all the questions of durability and poise under pressure. He's the guy and yes, we need to give him enough protection because he knows how to throw a football. That and a power back to spell Slaton will put us in the playoffs.

I never moved from my stance. I trust the head coach when he says he's the man.

i think it was great that he got 2 roughing to passer calls. Maybe he is getting a little respect from the refs.
That 1 hit he took in the left jaw and got back up with no porblem says alot.

Some reporter asked him about that, and he said something to the effect that it was just a little guy that hit him, he barely noticed it.
Gotta love it! he has grit!
Although I am new to the board I am not a new Texans fan. Been one since day one. I am also guilty of griping about Schaub so I'll have a wing please. Hmmm, wonder if a little salt is what makes it taste better?

I'll take this as a chance to take credit for defending him ha...
Unfortunately, I'll still eat some crow for defending our O-line too much. These guys, especially Winston yesterday, need to get their act together. I still have some confidence in them, and I know Tenn. has a great D-line, but there's no excuse for Schaub getting sandwiched in the pocket from both sides. Winston looked terrible. I know he's good and we don't need to replace him, but he's better than that.
Please protect out QB! You don't see Peyton and Brees getting crushed like that.
