I wonder just how attractive our situation is here in Houston to potential free agents. I believe that this is a up and coming playoff team but why don't we attract better players? Or is it that we just can't sign them? It will be interesting to see how this offseason plays out.

I drank the Kool-Aid but it had a funny smell, reminded me of something I caught a whiff of off 225. The team hasn't been in a position to attract top free agents due to a salary cap nightmare. I honestly think it isn't just the team though. Look at the other pro teams here. Maybe it is just coincidental but they have a hard time getting top free agent talent as well. Sure the 'Stros were able to get Clemens and Pettitte in recent years, but you can't count them they are from here. I am not anti-Houston, I am born and raised, but what does this city really have to offer that would allow us to compete for top flight free agents if it were to come to a bidding war?

You're assuming the Texans have pursued "better" players in free agency and been turned down.

The only reason these top players havent been tasting the Kool-Aid is because the Kool-Aid isnt sweet enough, get it. Casserly and Co. put us in salary cap hell and we havent been able to spend what it takes to get top free agents.

Usually a young FA will take the highest bidder while old vets without a ring will go to the teams who can win now.
