I don't know if y'all know this, but the bears game was Bruener's last game in the NFL.
He played 13 years and was known as one of the better blocking TE's in the league.
We could have used him in Gibb's system.
He was always a good player when he was available and he will be missed on special teams.

Saw this coming.
Good bye Mark. I enjoyed having him, as he was a great veteran to have on the Texans.
I have his autograph! :D

He's going into coaching, which he was doing informally with us anyway.

Yeah, heard it on the radio a week or so ago. Easy to see coming but I hope he might stick around the Texans organization, as he seemed like a respectable guy.

I've heard that he lives and breathes football so maybe we'll see him getting a ring as a coach one day.

I guess we will all have different feelings about his retirement. I personally will not miss him. Yes, he was a stand up guy, but with the emergence of Owens playing ability, how could I get upset over this retirement. All Owen Daniels needs now is some good coaching on blocking and he will be our premier TE for many years to come. We already know he is one heck of a TE at making the hard catches over the middle and his yards gained after the catch was very impressive to me.
But on a different note, I would also like to wish Mark the very best in his future. Which ever direction he decides to pursue, I wish him the best...
Thanks Mark.
Sincerly,

Maybe we could get Mark to teach him to block as that was his specialty.

I think Mark Bruener and Brad Ausmus will become coaches. Very intelligent...

Great guy, good player. I am glad he retired though from the standpoint that we did not have to release him. I knew he would be a roster casualty with Daniels, and Dressen as the future at TE for us, so I'm just happy he went out this way.

Owen Daniels had a great teacher on the field. He credited Mark with helping him transition to NFL tight end and helped him with different aspects of the position.
Mark also was a great leader on the field and in the locker room....
Thanks Mark.....and good luck in retirement life.....
He would make a great Texan ambassador.....

Are people seriously implying that OD needs special help at this point to become a better blocker? He was doing a fantastic job with blocking this season and we were constantly hearing all year long that he has grown into one of the better TEs in the league since his blocking has picked up.
Is this one of those cases where one person says he was bad at blocking and everyone that isn't sure just agrees that he is a poor blocker? OD is becoming one of the best receiving TEs in the league and he has publicly thanked Bruener for helping him become a better blocker.
