Where will Frank Bush call plays from??? Richard Smith preferred to stay in the box during the game. I think a D-coordinator should stay on the sideline, thus being able to get a better gage on the intensity/feel of the game. This does require reliable assistants who can communicate well from the pressbox to the coach on the sideline. Just curious to see what yall think…

I don't think they have decided that yet but my guess will be on the sideline. From what I understand Bush is a very intense person. I believe he will want to be on the sidelines to get in the face of players who aren't doing their job and to motivate as well. That is atleast what I would like to see.

I hope he's on the sidelines, you get a better view of the field from the pressbox but you get a better feel for the game and players from the sideline. This team needs a DC that will get in players face and grab them by the facemask and kick them in the butt, ie: a Buddy Ryan type of DC.

He seems like a great player's coach. So I would think he would be more effective on the sidelines, seeing how he's the only higher coach that can really get them together on the sideline.

It's just my preference, but I like to see the OC in the booth and the DC on the sideline. The offense IMO is much more of a cerebral type operation and the OC needs to see the full field and what the defense is doing against them. The DC on the other hand needs to be on the sideline to keep the troops fired up. Defense is much more the emotional side of the game. I'm sure it can and has worked well otherwise, but that is what I prefer to see.

I am ok with that. Means he is looking at things from a team standpoint instead of trying to concentrate on a player or two. It probably also makes it easier to adjust to an opponent's stategy and then adjust to their adjustments.

Yea im ok with DC in the press box during the game. wasnt rex ryan in the press box last night. and i know i saw johnson in the press box. i know the eagles played like they didnt belong there but johnson is one of the best at what he does. i just cant wait to see if he really has the ability to light a fire in the players. if he does then its gunna be exciting to watch next year. we will see.

How else would Dick Smith have snuck in all those mid-game Twinkies! If he was on field he would have not have been able to enjoy those wonderful cream filled cakes. Can you imagine how good our D would have been if he wa son the sidelines away from the distraction of the Twinkies!?!?!

I have never been around a DC who sat in the pressbox. I've known of a few that have, simply because it gives you a better view of what's going on during the game.

You're absolutely right about the DC needing to be on the sideline to get a better feel for the intensity of the game. He's got to be down there for his players.
