Thanks. Interesting opinion on D. Robinson and Reeves.

Thats what I was thinking. He was basically

saying Dunta was inconsistant with his ypc

analysis, and that other then 2 games jack

has been pretty good.

dunta did just come off MAJOR knee injury. he doesnt talk about what he does for our team leadership wize. i see what he is saying about not breaking the bank but he deserves some good money. i know im not an "expert" but man i could see what his return did for our teams energy. im glad he saw what i saw. jac is not as bad as everyone made him out to be. iff he turns his head then i believe he has 2 or 3 more ints.

With re-signing Dunta, we have a formiable set of CB's. Reeves is our #2CB & i can live w/dat. Bennett should get out his funk but if he dont, my guy "Hold'em" is right in line waiting for his chance!!! I expect our CB's over-all play to be more consistent & opportunistic.:D

What I find interesting about the YPA on Dunta is that with Aaron Glenn (Pro bowl corner) on the team he had his best year (6.6 YPA, 6 INT) when we got rid of Glenn he had his worst year (9.0 YPA, 1 INT) and since then we switched to a 4-3 and haven't had consistent pressure on a QB or a solid #2 corner and his season average has been averaged roughly 7.6 YPA and 2 INT a year.

I kind of agree with his assesstment about not breaking the bank on Dunta. I love the guy and believe he has/had the potential to be a great corner but right now I wouldn't want us to invest everything into one player no matter who it is.

Exactly, I think it has mroe to do with us still transitioning our defensive Scheme so that we can keep pressure on the QB. Once we get a front 4 that can get consistent pressure the secondary will all of a sudden look like it figured out how to play.

Any secondary in the NFL will look bad when you let the QB stand in the pocket waiting for one of his receivers to break free.

Those metrics are interesting, but don't tell the whole story. A cornerback is more than his YPA statistic. Dunta is terrific in run support, which Joyner's metric doesn't measure. Dunta and Philip Buchanon, e.g., are not equally effective at stopping the run. Dunta also brings a lot of intangibles to the team that cannot be easily measured -- toughness, leadership, swagger, etc. -- but are still valuable. He is more than just his YPA metric indicates.
