Ron Meeks defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts since 2002 has resigned from his position today.

Given that the Colt's defense wasn't exactly something to fear for the past couple of seasons, is this a good thing for other teams in the division or a bad thing, if they land someone better?

Yeah the Colts had a good run, but now it is back to the old drawing board for them boys. Dont be surprised to see a big name QB drafted in the next season or so. It happens. Atleast they got a ring out of it though.

This will be very tough for them to adjust too. From what I understand the Colts want to go away from the Tampa 2 defense that was run under Dungy. This requires a lot of changes as far as personel is concerned (almost as much as a switch from 4-3 to 3-4). The Tampa 2 requires small defensive linemen with speed. The Colts will need to bulk up their front line in the offseason.

Word is the owner had to convince the OC and OL coach to stay. Seems like everyone is not thrilled with the new head coach and things won't be a seamless transition.

I know I'd sure hate to be the guy that tries to follow a true legend like Dungy and live up to the standards he's already set. Okay...actually, I'd love to be that guy. Anywho, I don't think it's the other coaches not wanting to work for Caldwell as much as it is an issue with change. A lot of guys out there don't like change.

I think it has alot to do with knowing we are going to start kicking their tails.

The only regret I have is that we didn't have a better record against Dungy. I hope the Colts enjoyed their stay at the top of the AFC South, but it's time for them to start paying their dues again.

As the game changes so must teams...the Colts while still talented in areas are getting old...their defenses wasn't ever that good, for years their offense put most teams into the passing mode which brought out the best in Freeney...Sanders is a playmaker but other than that their defense was kinda bland...if Peyton ever gets hurt or retires they could be like the Lions...they have about 2 yrs left
