Guys I need your help. I am in a heated debate on another board with some friends and members about how my Texans are better than the girls. What statistics do you guys have of us being better than them this year?.
They made fun of how we have not made it to the playoffs and I quoted A-B where he said that they have not won a playoff game since 1996. Thanks A-B. Also, one has the audacity to say T.O. is better than AJ. What a nerd.

Arguing with Cowboy fan is like trying to spit into the wind. No matter what you say they think every Cowboy is the greatest ever at their position. The first thing they usually do is mention 5 super bowls and tradition of their great organization. Which by the way hasnt won a playoff game in 15 years.( that is twice as long as the Texans, and alot more mediocraty. Since the Texans have come into existance the Cowboys have made the playoffs two or three times. Yet we are to believe that they are so much greater than us? The Texans are in a much tougher conferance and until this year a much tougher division. If the Texans would have been in any other division there is no doubt they would have made the playoffs the last couple of years.
The Texans are better than the Cowboys this year. They had amuch better offense than the boys on all facets. The Texans have a receiver who doesnt just think he is te best in the league, he actually is. Our receiving core is better AJ, Walter, Davis, Anderson.....Jacoby ( If he could hold on to the ball) and Daniels. Daniels is not as good as witten, but he is improving and is near the top of AFC at the tight end position. THe Texans have the better RB...they all love Barber...but like most of Cowboys he is overrated. He just expends alot of movement getting two yards and they call that tough. Slaton was just a rookie and may not be as durable, but he was more productive.
The only place the Cowboys had the edge on us is defense...mainly the defensive line. Mario is our Superstar but Ware is good. The rest of the boys scrubs edged out our scrubs because they have a defense that blitzes...the Texans did not. Their Secondary was just as bad as ours and just as injured.
I asked my good friend who was a Cowboy fan and asked who would win. He told me the Texans. At the end of the season the Texans won 5 out of the last six, while the boys lost 5 out of the last six ( or was it 3 out of last 4)
Good luck arguing with Cowboy fans.....I am surprised they are still running smack...they usually wear another teams colors after they are eliminated.

Lol, man you guys are awesome. As a matter of fact I dont think it is healthy, I have a headache with all the back and forth comments with them lol. One in particular is now bringing up how Fitzgerald is a better receiver than AJ. But like you guys say, you can never win an argument with a cowboy fan. I have stated these facts and yet they still argue that they had a better season and will always be better than the Texans.

Rather than just post an opinion, I would begin to ask a few questions about each organization, beginning at the top. I don't think that stats tell the story. I think that one has to step back and look at the qualitative dynamics of each franchise, and ask which franchise is moving in which direction.
A. Owners; Jerry Jones vs. Bob McNair. Which owner best understands his role as the CEO of the franchise, and hires the best front office people?
B. General Managers: Jerry Jones vs. Rick Smith. Which organization has the GM who is the better expert in personnel?
C. Head Coach: Wade Phillips vs. Gary Kubiak. Although neither Coach has brought his current team to a playoff win, which Head Coach has had an active role in their previous organizations' success? Which one appears to be willing to make changes to his strategy and staff to improve his team? Which team appears to have positive momentum vs. negative momentum?
D. Offense & QB: Tony Romo vs. Matt Schaub. Which offense appears to be improving more?
E. Defense: Which defense appears to be improving more?
F. Overall Reputation? Which franchise appears to manage its reputation and image such that it has a reputation of integrity? Which demands integrity out of its personnel?
You can answer these for yourself, but my answers would be:
A. Bob McNair
B. Rick Smith
C. Gary Kubiak
D. Texans Offense/ Matt Schaub
E. Texans Defense
F. Texans
I don't even think it's close.

I am a Texans fan but I am also a long time Cowboys supporter.
It disappoints me how often the fan bases for both teams really can't get along. But with all the good will I have for the Dallas Cowboy organization, ain't no way I could look at any Cowboy fan with respect if they said the current organization was better then the Texans.
It has yet to be outright proven who is the better QB between Schaub and Romo but anyone that thinks T.O. (who I love as receiver) played this season or is ever going to ever be able to play better then younger and more talented Andre Johnson in the future is stupid. Roy Williams has yet to prove he can hold T.O.s jockstrap, AJ's would blind him.
Offensively, only their running backs are obviously better then what the Texans have, and that is only because they have three pretty good ones. Marion Barber is the devastating bruiser power back in an Earl Campbell mold, Felix Jones a fast guy who if he didn't get injured would probably be in the talk with the other rookie RBs along with Steve Slaton and Chris Johnson. Tashard Choice, nothing special but he seems like a capable smart guy and able to catch pretty well. Steve Slaton compares better to all three last year but the options available to Dallas with their RBs is enviable.
Still the Dallas secondary at best is just below the Texans at the end of the season. Although their front seven is obviously better with some stand out players like DeMarcus Ware, much like our own situation not enough people are living up to their potential in the games that count.
But as long as Jerry Jones is the end all be all, he breads more locker room problems then an uncleaned showers. I don't see my Cowboys being nearly any where near my Texans unless major changes are made, starting with Jerry Jones backing up from trying to run the team. He spoils the players which is probably more the reason they fell apart this season then Romo's injury and the Williams trade.

Cowboys payroll I'm sure is more than ours. Cowboy's have more so-called superstars than we do. And they have no more playoff wins than us in 7+ years. They have history on us that is it !!!!! Oh and now a more expensive stadium. Wonder how they are gonna feel when we are representing the AFC in the SB the first time it is held there while they are still pondering why they are not in it ? Also I think they have earned the title "Choke City Cowboys".

I don't know about ya'll but my whole father's side of the family and my wife's whole family are all very hardcore cowboys fan, and believe me, my wife's family is huge. I have had these discussions for many years, and you know I just wear my Texans gear loud and proud to every family get together while i laugh at their cowboys organization's problems. I love those discussions. They always end well. Ha Ha Ha

I don't think the Cowboys have a much larger payroll then us. It is just that Jerry Jones spends like there is no cap and he has no problem paying for it. McNair has a sizeable amount of cash but he isn't fool hardy enough to blow his wad on just any player after the crap that occurred in the early years of our franchise.
It would be great if both the Cowboys and the Texans could make it to the Super Bowl in the year that it is held in Dallas. I wouldn't be able to afford it because those prices I hear for the new stadium are obscene but it would be dope just to have it all be settled on Texan soil.

The key to your argument is this: Jerry Jones.
Texans fans may not have Super Bowl memories, but at least we have dignity.

Wow, CB. Just when I was beginning to think that you and I would never agree on anything, you go and surprise me.
Yeah I will do that from time to time.
I would suggest everyone get the book "Boys Will Be Boys." It is and insider's account of the Cowboys in the 90s. It is basically a story of moral degeneracy that makes Caligula's reign look like an episode of Barney. It also has a nice little tidbit about Michael Irvin trying to murder another player. Classy.

"Marion Barber is the devastating bruiser power back in an Earl Campbell mold"
I would like to take this opportunity to disagree with your assessment that Marion Barber is in an Earl Campbell mold. Since you are trying to be objective, I will take the high road and not make the kind of comments that I would really like to. I will say this, you must be 32 or younger to even make this kind of comparison. The Tyler Rose was by far the best running back in the league when he joined the NFL and remained the best back for his first five years in the league. He is an NFL legend, and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. Marion Barber is no where near Earl Campbell, and never will be. If you want a better comparison of who would relate closer to Earl Campbell, you would need to combine the physicality of Brandon Jacobs of the Giants and violent running style of Adrian Peterson of the Vikings. Even then I don't know if you would get close enough.

Arguing with a Cowboys fan is like arguing with my ex-wife. No matter how right you are you are wrong.
Best thing is just to answer with a sceptical "Sure" to anything they say till they get fustrated and go away.

Like some of the previous posters, I am both a Cowboys fan as well as Texans fan. I root for both teams during the season, however in those rare matchups against one another I support the Texans. I have been living outside of Texas for some 15 years now, so I don't come into contact with all the cowboy fans that you all seem to loathe so much. Now regarding the question of who is a better organization, right now I would have to give it to the cowboys, why you ask? The reason is quite simple, although they may have choked and seem to be running a circus in Dallas, the reality is that they are in it. They still had a chance to get into the playoffs the last game of the season, and were it not for some key injuries during the season, chances are they may have got in. Where they may have ended up, who knows, but they were in the discussion. Until we get there, the Texans won't garner the respect they deserve. With that being said, I think 2009 is our season, with the NFC west on the schedule, and the Texans progressing the way they have been, there may not be a better opportunity for us breaking into the postseason.

Christmas '07 I tried this approach to no avail, then my wife's uncle threw out the always predictable "5 rings" So I responded with "my team has barely been around for five years how is that a fair comparison?" his response? "Five rings baby!" So I told him that the only way to compare the two were to look at both team's first few years of existence, he agreed. Then I asked him if he knew how long it took the Boy's to win their first game (you're already chuckling if you know where i'm going) he said "no" I responded "their second season", then asked him if he knew how long it took the Texans to win their 1st. He didn't want to talk anymore after that. LOL
