Some of the truckers I know were sitting around talking football and one of them asked if we were going to do what the colts did and that was draft marvin's replacement when he was in his prime and groom him properly? Wow, good question I asked what rd his response was the first if no one was there, mainly a stud de for us would we then take one of these junior wr's to take over for aj down the road? What do u think? I can't think of a wrong answer so have at it. If they could't find a trade partner and the defensive players they wanted were gone who do u take?

Andre Johnson is only 27 years old. We won't need to worry about replacing him for at least 5 years if not longer than that.

Wow, I guess there is a wrong answer because we all saw we were not the same team when he was hurt and yea this is about when indy drafted reggie wayne I guess everyone thinks he is still young and will never get hurt how nieve. Have fun

With Walter and AJ and Davis and Anderson and Daniels and even Jacoby if he learns to get involved in the passing game, I think we have the necessary depth at pass-catching positions...a blocking TE could be in order I guess. We have far more pressing areas of need.
We could use upgrades at DE, obviously.
We could use serious upgrading at the CB and S positions, everybody knows.
We need depth across the O-Line and D-Line and LB crew.
We need RB depth because relying on Moats and Slaton alone could get sloppy.
We need a backup-backup QB in case Sage doesn't stick around beyond this season.
Obviously, some of these needs will be met via FA, which would open the door to a WR being drafted. There are a few really nice ones out there. I'm all for drafting guys and using that pick as motivation for others to step up their game or hit the cut list (Jacoby Jones, I love you in the return game, but we didn't spend a third rounder to just be a return guy).

I like how when someone doesnt agree with your opinion, they are naive. Andre is young and the supporting receiver crew is very good. We dont need to draft a dominant receiver yet.

It would be nice if we were at the point in our Franchise to be able to use a high pick on a WR. We have way to many wholes to even think about WR at this point.
(I do understand your point although, and wish we didn't have so many holes)

I think Jacoby was supposed to be the possible AJ replacement. After AJ went down last year, Jacoby got some catches before getting injured himself.
As of yet, there are a number of ways as to why he isn't involved in the passing game more. It could be just the fact that AJ, Walter and Davis are just better and more experienced down field threats, with Anderson being better in the slot. From the few pass plays I've seen seen them run for him (outside the Cowboys preseason game) he is bad, no AJ but nice speed when open.

this team has too many holes to be focusing on taking a WR to groom unless they find a guy in the middle rounds. id focus on a big fast WR from a small school ala jacoby who might be a project but has major upside. we just cant be going around taking WRs in the 1st round right now.

with a developing run game and a good recieving TE, it shouldn't be hard finding an AJ replacement in the draft in say 5 years and hopefully much longer.

First things first, get him under contract.
On March 3, 2007, the Texans signed Johnson to a six year extension; the deal is worth $80 million and includes $15 million in guarantees.
so we still have him for 4 more years at least.
