#15 - Texans pick Vontae Davis, CB.
And in his draft, we pass up Michael Johnson, James Laurinaitis, Peria Jerry, and Aaron Maybin.
Do you guys agree w/ this mock? Do we need a CB more than a DE or DT?

you cant pass up laurinaitis but maybin is the bigger need. i hear johnson doesnt have a great motor and takes to many plays off..
if we cant come to an agreement with dunta, i think vontae would be the best choice

This pick only makes sense if Dunta is not resigned. If he is, then based on this mock I would draft Brian Cushing.

Thats what the "experts" said about Mario. They also said alot of his stats were compiled in a few games E.Brown anyone? What about freaky combines C.Long and V. Gholston?

Nonsense, I've seen Mario take lots of plays off...
...but the offense is on the field when that happens.
In regards to the mock, I wouldn't be overly dissapointed with the pick but I'd rather that we trade down and fill out our depth at other positions than take another "starter quality" CB after dishing out money to Reeves and Dunta (presuming he's resigned.)

I don't think that we could have too many good CB's. Replacing Faggins with Davis would probably be an upgrade. Fred Bennett came down to earth after a solid rookie season. Jacques Reeves had some very good games and some that weren't so good. Robinson was solid when he came back. I wouldn't complain about getting Davis one bit.
None of us are used to our team having the luxury of drafting the best player available to create better depth. After three very solid drafts, we're getting to that point now. Yeah, we need a DE. Yeah, we can use some help at Safety. Yeah, a power back would be nice. I don't see us reaching for anyone this draft. I think we go BPA no matter what round.

davis has alot of upside, but he's still raw. more of a late 1st rounder right now, but will move up after he runs 4.35 at the combine, jumps 40 inches, and benches 25 reps. honestly i dont see this happening unless we plan to move him to safety. he has the size at 6' 205lbs and he's the most physical CB in the draft and probably the hardest hitting CB. plays near the line well too.

Yeah yeah... we're talking his NC State days from the "experts" perception. You know when Manny Lawson was terrorizing offenses and Mario was reaping the rewards. /sarcasm off
We see how that perception hasn't exaclty become reality now Lawson has 5.5 vs Mario's 30.5 sacks.

The only way we take a CB in the first four rounds is if we lose Dunta Robinson to FA. Otherwise there really is no reason to get another corner, we have Dunta, Reeves, Bennett and even Molden. Drafting a rookie CB no matter how good he is projected to be is just wasteful when we have no critical need for an immeditate starter at that position unless we lose Dunta Robinson.
Right now our secondary needs are more critical in the area of the safety position. If we don't pick up a safety, I'd see us trading down, if none of the defensive linemen look good enough to use that pick on. But improving the pass rush should come before picking most positions.

^ That Brian Cushing? No thanks. And trust me, that is legit information.
Cushing is said to be too injury prone.

I've been reading stuff about him using as wll. I do think he would still be a good choice. However, I would for the texans to move down in round 1 and get an extra 2nd or 3rd. Clay Matthews Jr is really moving up and I read from other blogs that he would be a better 4/3 linebacker then his other USC linebackers. Esp. since he is more able to rush the QB.
