I see a lot of boards taking Vontae Davis, i have been researching him and he seems like a bigger version of Dunta. If we keep D-Rob and get Vontae our secondary will be blowing the place up.

a great physical speciman. 6' 205lbs with 4.40 speed. physical and aggressive and relishes contact. not afraid to play near the line and make the tackle. strong and a big hitter.

however, he is raw and his instincts are lacking. gets by on his superior size and athleticism rather than technique and IQ. susceptible to getting burned. he is a high upside prospect but has considerable risk.

I think he will be a better pro than Jenkins. I also see him inching up the draft. NO would have a hard time passing up a physical CB.

I think that he will be laying people out all over the place. I think I might prefer him to Jenkins. Maybe we could bring Glenn back to coach him up and have Dunta offer pointers as well.

I've seen him get burnt in a few replays, but I've seen everybody get burnt.

I wouldn't have a problem with Vontae Davis in the 1st. If Dunta leaves in FA that makes CB an huge need in the draft and even if Dunta stays he seems to have lost a step of speed and quickness and we could use another good CB. He'd be an upgrade over all the other mediocre CB's we've got.

It sounds good together, Vontae and Dunta. We would overwhelm opponents WRs with a case of VD.

That would bring wishing VD on your opponent to a whole new level.

My only fear with Vontae Davis: His brother seems like a immature selfish @$%&*. Does anybody know anything about Vontae's character??? If he is anything like Vernon can't win with em, can't coach with em, can't do it, I want winners. (well...at least his rant was something similar to that)

vontae was benched this season for inconsistency. i wouldnt say he's a diva like vernon, but his character seems iffy at times. his stock has been falling lately, and he's a mid-late 1st for now. his combine performance will push him back to the upper-middle of the 1st

Who's scouting reports do u read before you type your response? Most first round prospects are high risk. There is no science to making a selection. It's all about who the team THINKS will turn out to be a good pro.

CB should be addressed in FA. Rarely do first year corners make a big impact.

Personally, I think that if we want to go with a CB high in the draft we should look at Alphonso Smith in the 2nd. All the scouting reports say he is 1st round talent and possibly the best CB in the draft but scouts are shying away due to his size (5'9"). His height doesn't bother me as long as he has the talent.

pretty much every draft site plus other message boards.

of course every prospect has high risk, but there are some who have higher risk than others. vontae was inconsistent this year and has is underdeveloped as a player. im assuming that raw prospects have higher risk than developed prospects. feel free to disagree with that. if you disagree with my assessment on him, you should probably point out where im wrong. i dont just make up stuff on players before i type. it all comes from somewhere.

Football's Future
"He can be too aggressive at times, and will bait the receiver to try and make a big play. His talent is enough to recover in situations where he makes a mistake in college, but he will not be able to do that in the NFL."

Walterfootball.com
"Work ethic and intangibles will go under microscope after being benched by Ron Zook."

I'm assuming that getting benched is of course, a bad thing. Feel free to disagree with that as well.

What exactly was the point in your post? I gave an assessment on a player...if you disagree with something, friggan say it and prove me wrong.

The only way we should take a CB is if Dunta leaves and no other position on the board is worth our pick.

Our current CBs (outside of Faggins), would probably start over any CB we draft though because as we seen last night in the SB, experienced WR will often tear younger DBs even with loads of talent to shreds.

I would rather see if VD could play FS. That is a bigger need now than CB. Dunta will be resigned.

I'm not the biggest fan of Vontae; he seems more suited to a D that plays zone primarily. It'd emphasize his run support ability and cover up his bad tendency to look in the backfield. I've seen him burned a bit too much.

I think I would rather have DJ Moore from Vandy.
