I read in the sports section of today's (2/8) paper in Cincy that these are the 3 top teams to open 2009 in Pittsburgh.

BAL @ PIT:
I doubt the NFL would waste such a huge rivalry game this early in the season. Why not save it for December when it can really mean something big. Still possible with the Orioles on the road between 9/7 and 9/13.

MIN @ PIT:
I don't see FOX giving up either one of it's Steelers games.

TEN @ PIT:
Very likely. SUper Bowl Champs vs the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs from this past season.

The Steelers and Ravens are in the same division, so they play twice every year. Therefore you could have this as the opener, and still have the late December game.

NFL doesn't like scheduling division games in Week 1

and they can get rating simply on pittsburgh playing whoever, because its the firs game of the season why use up a good ratings game when they can use it later on

Lendale White's stomping of the Terrible Towel in that Week #16 game in Nashville is likely to be replayed again if the 2 teams meet in the Thursday Night Opener. And I think it will happen.

My guess would be the Vikings or Titans, just because the Ravens are a division game and that usually isn't the choice. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the Dolphins though just like after XL.

Titans b/c for some reason drama plays a big role in football now and they're going to show the whole terrible towel thing.

I would take the Titans. And I hope you guys destroy them.

Didn't the Giants play the Redskins in the opener last year?

I hope you are right. I have to admit that I'm apprehensive about the Steelers vs Titans game. Steelers didn't look very good in losses vs the Titans and vs the Eagles last season.

I think there is more bad blood between the Titans and Steelers right now adding to the potential drama. Although if the Vikings can clog up their weaknesses and Jackson can start playing well in high pressure situations, they could look EXTREMELY good as a potential Super Bowl match up.
