Johnson and Maybin put on a little weight. That sounds good to me. Maybin is still a little too small but if he puts on some more weight before his pro day then he could interest the Texans. I was hoping E. Brown was a little taller and heavier.

I agree, we would have to trade back for them though. They aren't worth the 15th and probobly won't be around for the 46th.

I knew Maybin would add #s. Can't wait until tomorrow when he blows up the combine. Michael Johnson no doubt will blow the place up as well. I have a feeling Johnson will make all us doubters including myself second guess dropping him to the 2nd round.

All the Elite DEs seem a lot shorter than expected??? 6'3" hmmmmmm could cause 4/3 teams to second to pass on them. Everette Brown- 6'2 256lbs no doubt will drop with 4/3 teams.

The more and more I look at talent I realize Smith better be wheeling and dealing to trade down. All the players I have man crushes on seem to be available in the 2nd round or at the earliest late 1st. I sure would like to trade 15 for a 2nd and 3rd. I believe we would have 4 starters come out of this draft if we could make the trade, Not to mention we get starters on the cheap. Could you Imagine:
2nd Round: Ayers and Rashad Johnson
3rd Round: Rashad Jennings and Marcus Freeman

i'm really starting to like the idea of drafting aaron maybin at 15. he has about the same size as Dwight freeney and jason taylor had coming out of college. but he also dropped into coverage often at Penn State. that plus the fact that he had 12 sack last year despite not starting the first two games. this guy has the fastest first step in all of the country. he is not a project.. this guy will be a steal. imagine, him interchanging between OLB and DE. this would cause soo many problems for defenses. imagine a Mathais Kiwanuka with DeMarcus Ware type talent. you watch he prolly wont be there at 15.

Yea and the problem is he is playing the strong side he has to have girth. you need someone with a little more than what I saw out of maybin at the rose bowl he disappeared against USC's offensive line.that doesn't bode well for him at the next level

Dude we should get more than that trading out of the first round, last year we got a 3rd and a sixth just for 8 slots (some people didn't think we got enough value from that) We could give 10-12 slots and draft at the end of round one and probably still get a late second and third. It is all supplay and demand, so Moreno is there at 15 and somebody thinks San Diego picks him at 16 and they want him, we get great value for our pick. :ast year Baltimore wasn't dying to pick Flaco at 18 so we got good but not great value for that swap.

What do you think about Derek Walker from Illinois? He's a mid-rounder that played pretty well for Illinois last season.

dont want him. he has good size, but ran a 4.99 40yd...which isnt a real big deal but if you add in the fact that he isnt a real sack artist either, it isnt a good thing. 15 sacks in 4 years...id rather have someone else

40 yard dash doesn't mean anything for DE's. What we need to look at is their 10 yard splits. That will give you a more realistic idea of what they could look like on the field.

Thanks foozball for posting the times. I really though that Brown would be the fastest, nice to see Orakpo doing well.

ehh if you show them to me I will look. But i wouldn't change a draft rating for a DE on his time. WR's and DB's have a little more importance to their 40 times because they need long speed.

if mario williams ran a 4.85, would you still want him at #1?

Technically you are correct. If a DE is running 40 yards, that means something really good or really bad just happened. What is important about that drill is their 10 and 20 yard times. Those numbers combined with their broad jump and shuttle times give us a pretty accurate description of what their burst is like. I know you stated something like this earlier, but I felt like adding my thoughts to it.
