He might drop down to us now that he's probably going to be looked at as a FS. Ran in the mid 4.55 range which is surprising.

I would definitely be interested though I would still like to move down and pickup extra picks.

Hmmmm very interesting especially with his polish he could be a stellar safety

Apparently he ran in the mid 4.5's in the combine. Way too slow for a top rated CB especially when V. Davis ran in the mid 4.3's. Many scouts said he would be a prototypical FS if he ran in the 4.5's.

V. Davis ran 4.49. fastest time outta DB this year was 4.41 chris clemons
a safety outta clemson. my boy Alphonso Smith ran a 4.50, but had great Db drills

Pretty much everyone is running slower than expected. Probably indicates the track is slow. Kind of funny as everyone used to snivel about the old track, but some really great times were turned in.

He's a CB. Nobody's going to draft a guy who was GREAT - and great at a big time program - and then turn around and make him totally change his position based on one mediocre Combine workout. His years of great play will greatly outweigh his workout.

I think people are just overreacting to his 40 time.

I agree, 40 time isn't everything. He smoked the 3 cone drills. I'm not sure how he did in his position drills, but either way I think he'd be a good pick at 15. I have a feeling that we are probably gonna trade that pick or get an OLB of DL with it. It seems like Smith and Kub's have been emphasizing pass rush more than secondary.

And they would probably have been even faster on the old surface. That is my point. Not that everyone is slow, but that as a group the numbers are lower and probably indicative of a slower surface.

I think the pro days will deliver a more telling tale as they are more comfortable and run in a more familiar setting. I think a good combine helps but the fact you participate and you are willing to go out there and showcase is the biggest thing you can have sub par times but to go out there and subject yourself to the combine scrutiny is a more telling stat than some of the numbers

It isn't just his 40 time, he is stiff in his hips and scouts don't think he will be able to handle double routes or any route that requires him to switch his hips really fast. Honestly though, a 40 time over 4.5 is terrible for a db. How is he gonna man up on AJ? AJ runs 4.3... 0.2 seconds is more than enough to burn him deep. I agree that 40 times are overrated but for some positions, they mean a whole lot.

I say if he drops to us we grab him in a heartbeat. we could try him out at corner and if that doesnt work out move him to Free saftey. you cant pass up a guy who on tape looks like a top 5 draft pick.

there were questions about his speed already and many scouts were talking about switching him to FS. his slow 40 just confirmed their thoughts

Jenkins would give us added versatility in the secondary, with the ability to play both CB and FS. I don't doubt he would make a better FS, but I don't want Smith to draft him.

I think Texans look at what LB is available first, then CB before looking at FS.

Jenkins looked stiff and slow. I think he drops to 20+ V.Davis goes top 15.

Otis Wiley Could be a later pick for the FS of the future. He played SS last season but was also a punt returner and plays the ball really well that he could play Free at the pro level. just lacks consistency which some time on the bench could probably remedy that situation.
