Who thinks we will take Clay Matthews in the first, and play him OLB. I honestly wouldn't mind. I like the guy, and he did really well at the combine.

Bruce is his uncle, Clay Matthews the former Browns LB is his father. I would love to add Clay, especially if they trade down and add a pick.

When I heard Bruce was hired as a coach Clay Mathews to the Texans was my first thought. I would love to trade back to 20-25 and pick up another 3rd round pick and Pick Clay Mathews. Could you imagine 2 3rds and 2 4th round picks? Possibility of 4-6 new players to majorly contribute if not start for the Texans.

i think he'll now be our target especially if we sign a FA DE. I didn't know too much about him, but from the combine, he looked pretty good for the strongside.
Now Diles and Adibi will have to up their game and compete for the weakside.

Unless someone distinguishes themselves, I could see us starting the season with a 3 man rotation (Diles, Adibi, Matthews) at the 2 OLB positions.

bruce was hired for the offensive side of the ball, he is there to help with the run game. clay plays defense, his dad being on our staff will have little to do with us picking him.
it could happen, but dont hold your breath.

Bruce Matthews is Clay Matthews Jr.'s UNCLE. Clay's dad (Clay Matthews Sr.) played LBer for the Falcons and Browns..

And since they can't talk numbers or details with him having uncle Bruce in the fold helps. At a family dinner uncle Bruce could get some details and we could have our first round pick signed before draft day.

the NFL is a business.
bruce was hired on to assistant on the offensive side of the ball. they might ask him about personality, and how he was growing, and get insight that alot of other teams might not have into clay.
but what i am saying is, bruce being hired is not going to affect us potentially drafting clay. you dont make sound business descions by hiring someones uncle, and then drafting a family member of said uncle just because he was hired by the team.
you dont do business that way. also, just because someone dad and uncle were NFL players doesnt mean you will be an NFL great.
NFL bloodlines help, but doesnt give any indicator what type of player in the NFL he will be. kellen winslow jr is a hell of alot better athlete then his dad was. but his dad will always be the great hall of fame TE. K2 will be another child of NFL star to piss away his talent. hell if we went by bloodlines, who would ever thought archie manning would have a kids who was twice as better as he was. and not just that, have 2 kids who are better then him.
clay has the most upside out of all the USC LB's, and i love the fact the kid was a walk on and earned his scholarship. i am all for drafting him if the value is right. but to think we will draft someone just because his uncle is a coach is not realistic. it will happen on clay's merit, not bruce's coattails.
