Just a thought, seeing as how arguably one of our major needs is OLB. As well as a good strategy in the draft would be to take the best player available. It just so happens that the best player available in the draft according to many in the biz is an OLB by the name of Aaron Curry.Dont go crazy I know we have needs at other positions, but what if we traded up to get Aaron Curry. What would it take maybe Detroit take their first give them ours and maybe a 3rd and a 4th Maybe just our first and our 2nd. Would it be worth it Im leaning towards yes when do we have a chance to meet a need and grab a guy with this much athleticism and talent. The more and more i watch this guys tape it seems to me to be an awesome athlete. We have also filled many needs for our team through FA.

For Detroits? it would take a lot more than our 1rst and 2nd. prolly our 1rst, next years 1rst, and this years 2nd. IMO, not worth it. maybe we could trade with the Browns or Seahawks. i like the idea but im not willing to pay too much for him.

The cap hit we would take for another 1st overall pick would be painful.

I think it's more realistic that we'll trade down and grab Matthews around 25 or so if Kubes has decided on taking an OLB in the 1st.

I like Curry and I would love for him to be a Texan, but this draft is too deep at OLB and we have too many other needs to justify trading up. Even if we don't get a 1st round LB, there will be guys available in the 2nd-4th (Freeman & McKenzie to name a couple) that could compete for the starting SLB position as well. I think many people are zoned in on Matthews (myself included) because he just makes since for our team. There does not appear to be any other players in the 1st that would present as good a value for us as Matthews. It doesn't hurt his case that he is arguably the best blitzing 4-3 OLB in the draft and has the ability to drill down to a situational pass rush DE as well.

Hey guys would it be too much too ask to put all the hypothetical stuff like this thread and Pat White in the Draft section...... Every day some just gets bored and post stuff like this and generally it is in the wrong section. Hey mods can you just make me a mod and I'll keep this stuff cleaned up.

Oh and by the way the chances of Boseli being our LT on Day one next year is better than us trading up for Curry eventhough he is a stud.

We arent that close to being a playoff team to sacrifice draft picks for just 1 piece Unless we are competing for a championship this year and all we need is an OLB... Then do it. But as Jacksonville proved last year by mortgaging all their picks for 2 pass rushers it can backfire when you sacrifice depth at another position to fill your need with top tier talent

Its going to take more than that to trade up to the first pick.

No one in this draft to me is worth drafting up ward to pick up.

I mean, a talent OLB is good, but is he worth losing another pick in the upper rounds? No.

Just because we have addressed the DE situation, doesn't mean there aren't other areas we need to work on. We probably should still draft another DE or DT within the top rounds, along with a safety, maybe either a RB or offensive guard.

We have plenty of areas of need where picking up a OLB for the cost of two picks isn't a sound way to approach this draft.

I am not a fan of trading up for unproven talent. At this point we could use more picks to add more depth to our roster. That would also help to increase competition and boost our current roster.

well honestly you say it will take alot to move up....no the stupid draft chart is rarely followed now.....it all depends on if the team wants to get out of the spot and $$$
