Its not a bad mock. I really like Cushing. I think McCoy is a solid back but I wouldn't have gone rb there. I would have looked at Ron Brace, a safety, or a db.

For any other team this would be a great first two picks for us... not so much.
1. Cushing: i just dont like the guy. of course thats just my opinion though.
2. LeSean McCoy: There is no way we take a running back before the 4th round. McCoy to most would be a steal BUT we dont need an everydown back in the second. we need a short yardage/power back. Lesean wighed in under 200 lbs at the combine. we dont need two steve slatons, we need one.

Given your mock, I would trade down to the 20-25 range where we would have our pick of Alphonso Smith, DJ Moore (can also KR/PR) or Clay Matthews without it being considered a reach. Then in the 2nd I would grab either Brace, Chung, Mickens or Harris.

If no one falls to us, I think we should trade down, and pick up another pick in the process, in either the 2nd or the 3rd.

If I did three rounds Safety would have been the pick in the third. I think Mccoy is better than the next best safety in my mock.

Understood. I believe Mccoy is first round talent, but with the RB class he could drop. In the NFL you need two good RBs, and if he's there for the Texans in the second I hope they take him.
Brace is a late 2nd or third rounder, the only reason I have Denver taking him in the 2nd is because they're switching to a 3-4 and he's the 2nd best one in this draft (Raji first). I considered taking Patrick Chung, but I like the Mccoy pick better.

The zone block system is built for the Steve Slaton's though. The Texans should stay with what's working. You can pick up the bruising back to be the third stringer.

McCoy is smaller than Slaton.

I don't do trades in my mocks. They are extremely hard to predict. Did anybody expect the Ravens to make all those trades in the first last year?

McCoy is smaller than Slaton.
Slaton is 5'9" 201 pounds according to the roster page. Mccoy is 5'10" 198 pounds according to nfl.com. Not that much of a difference. That would give us two Slaton's... then we can get a bruising rb to be 3rd string later in the draft or through FA.

Don't need 2 Slatons when you can get Rashad Jennings or James Davis in 4-5th round range.

why would we draft a good backup!? the draft is to fill holes on our team first and foremost.

And the Texans will still not be able to make a short yardage 1st down or score a red zone rushing TD. Find someone who can get you yards after contact like Greene who rushed for over 1700 yards and 870 of those yards came after contact.

In your mock I would have to try to trade down in both the 1st and 2nd round. Clay Mathews is sitting at the end of the 1st and Shonn Greene is 17 picks after your McCoy pick. Mathews and Greene would be a much better fit.

Personally I like Brown from NC State, He is 225 and has looked really good in his workouts and the all star game he was in. He could be taken in either the late 3rd or 4th.

I don't do trades in my mocks, they're too unpredictable to do them accurately. If the Texans trade down later in the first I would be ok with taking Mathews, but at 15 if Cushing & Matthews are there I would go with Cushing. I understand going Greene instead of Mccoy. I have Mccoy ranked higher than I do Greene though, & I personally don't mind having two Slaton's.

So a back-up RB isn't a need? Again you need two good RBs in this league. Just ask Pittsburgh, Dallas & Carolina who all picked a RB in the first last year though they had good starting RBs. I wouldn't take a RB with the Texans first round pick, but if Mccoy fell to the 2nd it would be tempting to take him there in the 2nd. I believe in running the football, and Mccoy would be just like Slaton, but he would keep Slaton fresh at the end of the game. A fresh Slaton against a tired defense sounds appealing to me.

James Davis is a good pick in the 4th or 5th, but I have seen a mock with Jennings going in the third, and I could see him getting drafted right after Greene goes off the board. Jennings could possibly get drafted before the Texans third round pick.
My top RB's in order:
1. Knowshon Moreno
2. Lesean Mccoy
3. Chris Wells
4. Donald Brown
5. Shonn Greene
6. Jeremiah Johnson
7. Rashad Jennings

From what I keep hearing, the texans want a BIG back to backup Slaton.. My fav would be Rashad Jennings - 6’1 / 232.. And I'm not sure if he'll be there in the mid 3rd either.

I'd love James Davis in the fourth.
