"HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Sam McGuffie feels the lure of the Big Ten Conference and has given his verbal committment to play for the Michigan Wolverines starting in the fall of 2008.
McGuffie announced on KPRC's Sports Sunday with Randy McIlvoy and said, "I have felt good about Michigan for quite a while and two weeks ago paid a visit there and really liked what I saw."
Hmmm....
That's an early verbal.
I wished he'd have stayed in-state.
I've watched his highlight video about 15 times. Dude is badness.

Well the only school in state on his top 5 was A&M. Though I believe, not for sure, but believe A&M was second behind Michigan.

He probably would not have even got a chance to start at Texas. They have too much talent. No offense to this kid.He looks like he could be pretty good.

It just makes me angry when Texas kids go out of state for college.
Stay here and make ANY Texas college a dominant force.
We have enough talent to have every Texas college become a dominant force if they'd stay in Texas.
But at the moment, Michigan would probably be a better place with a better chance of Sam getting national attention than being stuck in College Station.

His top 5 in no particular order were Flordia, Michigan, USC, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame.

Randy McIlvoy also mentioned that McGuffie has family in Michigan which played into chosing the wolverines.

guess that gives some of us a reason to watch some of the wolverines games. Still wish he would have had stayed in Texas and even more so that he would have been recruited by the Longhorns.

Yeah while it would of been nice of him to stay in Texas or go to UT as you said, UT just picked up Foswhitt Whittaker from Pearland just this past year. Probably not just him but others too I think. I dont think he even considered Texas. Maybe he did, but didnt make it to his top 5.
