this is simple.
i have seen alot of talking about how schaub is going to be great and how Carr sucked and that some people have doubts on schaub because he doesnt have a rocket arm. but let me tell you something schaub has the detemination and desire to win. ever heard of otto grahm and joe montana. they didnt have the strongest throwing arm but they had heart and that is all you need (exept for mabye a little bit of talent.) but i feel good about schaub and i think he will lead this team to vitory for many years.
Schaub=Win
Carr=Suck

Here here. Look at Tom Brady, wasn't the knock on him going into the draft arm strength? I don't see a serious lack of arm strength there, but I do see a desire to win. Looking at the opposite example, how many big-armed QBs have failed because they didn't have a desire to win? Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Carr, Todd Marinovich (did he have a big arm? I don't remember), Kyle Boller, the list goes on and on. I'm not saying that every weak-armed QB is good, but Schaub isn't going to be bad just because he doesn't have the strongest arm.

20 to 30 yards out he will have AJ (great at catch and run) and Walters/Jones
5 to 15 yards out, Daniels/Puztier, pretty good receivers and also can run.
Leach/Dayne/Green coming out of the backfield all good hands, and running is their thing.
He doesn't need a strong arm.

Very true, but so is the proof in the video of Matt hitting Price(I think it was) on about a 50yd TD pass. Maybe not the greatest arm, but if he needs it, sure looks like he can get the ball down the feild alot farther than most say/think he can.

Every QB in the league should be able to throw at least 45-50 yrds. If they can't they don't need to be playing. Some will have less accuracy at that distance than others (Chad Pennington) but I don't think I've seen a QB that can't throw at least that far. And how many times a game would you expect a QB to go deeper than that anyway?

hell i could throw 45 yards.
If Kubes could maximize Schaub's mechanics to consistently accurately throw "only" 50 yards, we have not problems in having a vertical passing offense.
BTW, I once threw a football 100+ yards with no problem...........and it was into a vicious wind.......................Of course, I threw it straight down.......over a steep cliff.[:$]

I can chunk a ball 40-45 yards, but I have no idea where it will go. I think Matt Schaub is going to be fine. If we want to get a quick score before halftime, and say there is five seconds left and we are on the opponent's 45, he can get it into the endzone.

Exactly. And in most cases of a last second hail mary you will often see a team bring in a backup QB that has the "stronger arm" to heave it up.

I see a pretty good run game creating blitz and man/man coverages...I like the sound of a nice touch with arch rather than a rocket arm.

I think we are all really wondering if he can make the reads faster than Carr could...I believe Shaub can, but regardless........Shaub seems like the better *leader* type and that's what I like most of all.

Well considering that Carr couldn't make reads at all, Schaub can defnitely make reads faster.

I'm already a huge fan of Schaubs. I know physicaly he can get the job done, but i'm most impressed with his mental capacity and how he handles himself. He just seems like a winner and thats an impression I never got with Carr.

Huh? May have happened once or twice, but that is not something you commonly see in the NFL.

All this arm strength talk is overanalysis. Dude hit Price for a 58 yard TD (after rolling left and not being well set up) and it was all in the air. That is all you ever need out of your QB.

Keep in mind this is the West Coast Offense really there isnt to many really deep passes, its mostly crossing routes and posts that the receiver makes people miss and picks up YAC. This isn't the raiders or Air Coryell's offense.

I agree with what you have to say. Schaub is a very accurate passer and has more arm strength than what people give him credit for. He will be fine this yr. He will also live up to expectations as well. I see him as another T. Brady type of player and i will take that over what we had the last 5 yrs.
