I have a feeling this thread will be blowing up in about ten minutes. Just curious...after they release the schedule, when will they release what uniforms they will be wearing. I'm hoping we get to play the Titans in their throw back uniform.

Pretty good schedule. No long stretch of home or away games. Only got one primetime game. I'll admit it, I was expecting 2 in the reg. season but I'm happy against one and glad it's not a "gimme win" against Jacksonville. We close out against NE and will be a good test if we are in the playoff hunt then.

O.K..what do you think the odds are of us playing the tack's wearing battle red against their throw back oilers uniform, on monday night? I would be freakin stoked if that happens.

I believe they are only wearing the throwbacks against the original AFL teams? Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Atleast with the flex scheduling the last two games could be changed to Sun night if their are playoff implications

Not to nitpick, but at least ONE afternoon game at Reliant would have been nice.
Oh well. Glad I renewed my tickets. The Titan game alone will be worth it!

I could not think of a better time for a bye week. It's right after a big divisional away game and before a big monday night home divisional game.
Not to mention it's W10, which is far later than what I'm used to.

What do you mean no sunday night game? The last 6 games are flex games and any one of them could be moved from noon to 7pm if we are contenders.
My bad I didn't clear up. I know the last 6 games are flex games, but I rather have them "in stone" that we have a Sunday Night game rather than hope we get one later on. Either way if we get a SNF game I would be stoked; ESPECIALLY if we get it at home.

Houston Texans 2009 Schedule
Wk Date Matchup TV Time
1 Sun, Sept. 13 vs. New York Jets CBS 1 p.m. - Jets can go either way this season. Be good or not so good. Offense isnt something to brag about. Defense could be stellar. keyword: could. Prediction: W
2 Sun, Sept. 20 at Tennessee Titans CBS 1 p.m. - Early division game. I wont call it a measuring stick game but could be big. Prediction: Toss up
3 Sun, Sept. 27 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars CBS 1 p.m. - won't say it's an easy win, but Jacksonville in "rebuild" mode so to speak. Prediction: W
4 Sun, Oct. 4 vs. Oakland Raiders CBS 1 p.m. - Somehow we always seem to not play at our very best against them. To take that next step forward, you gotta beat the teams your suppose to. Prediction: Toss up
5 Sun, Oct. 11 at Arizona Cardinals CBS 4:15 p.m. - One of the games I've had circled just because we are suppose to be the next Arizona Cardinals. Will be a good game to watch. Prediction: Toss up
6 Sun, Oct. 18 at Cincinnati Bengals CBS 1 p.m. - Palmer will be back healthy, but still as a team, not good enough to hang with us. Prediction: W
7 Sun, Oct. 25 vs. San Francisco 49ers FOX 1 p.m. - A team that is on the rise and with Singletary now running the show, they may put up a fight but still not quite good enough to hang with us. Prediction: W
8 Sun, Nov. 1 at Buffalo Bills CBS 1 p.m. - Will things have imploded by now? Who knows. Buffalo a team on the rise with Edwards, Evans, Lynch, and TO leading the show. Good enough to stay with us? Probably not. Defense still needs some work. Prediction: W
9 Sun, Nov. 8 at Indianapolis Colts CBS 1 p.m. - This could perhaps be a pivitol game. Could be 6-2 or 7-1 or winning record in general coming into this game fighting for a top spot in the division. Prediction: Toss up
10 Bye - Good time to have the bye. A little past the half point mark in the season.
11 Mon, Nov. 23 vs. Tennessee Titans ESPN 8:30 p.m. - A big primetime game. We're fresh coming off a bye week and playing on the national stage - something we're good at. Prediction: W
12 Sun, Nov. 29 vs. Indianapolis Colts CBS 1 p.m. - 3rd straight divisional game. At home and with a hopefully healthy Matt Schaub, we pull this one out. Prediction: W
13 Sun, Dec. 6 at Jacksonville Jaguars CBS 1 p.m. - We have to beat the teams we're suppose to beat. While it is an away game, I think we give them all they can handle and then some. Prediction: W
14 Sun, Dec. 13 vs. Seattle Seahawks FOX 1 p.m. - Seattle, while they have a healthy Hasselback coming back and aquiring TJ from Cincy, and a top pick in the draft, not enough to stop us. Prediction: W
15 Sun, Dec. 20 at St. Louis Rams CBS 1 p.m. - Even with Marc Bulger, Steven Jackson, and new head coach Spagnulo running the show, not enough talent and we're too much in the end. Prediction: W
16 Sun, Dec. 27 at Miami Dolphins CBS 1 p.m. - Will the Dolphins be a one year wonder or a legit threat for years to come? Don't get fooled by the wildcat. Could see this as a loss. Do we pull it out? I think we can. Prediction: Toss up
17 Sun, Jan. 3 vs. New England Patriots CBS 1 p.m - Too much Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker. We put up a fight but not quite good enough in the end. Prediction: L
10 wins could be had. Toss up's I'm unsure about. Could go either way. Though please, do not take it or quote me for saying we'll only have one loss. We'll have more than that but also I think we'll be in every game we play.
Overall prediction: 10-6 [though not based on the predictions above, we'll lose some we should probably win and win some we should probably lose.] and [hopefully] good for a Wild Card spot.

I agree with something John McClain just said on 610. This schedule will prove if the Texans are contenders or pretenders. It's a very favorable schedule for the Texans, and we should be able to capitalize.

We should come out blazing against the Jets & make a statement. We could have a very good chance of starting out 4-0, but thats if we come out ready to play. For 1 reason or another, we start off flat but I really think this year is going to be totally different esp. from our D. Frank will have these guys ready to crack skulls come opening day!!! If we go 8-8 again, frankly there is no excuse. No more "I didnt have them prepared." or any other excuses. This schedule does seem favorable. Now we have to execute.

Anyone else catch the four straight division games? And that we play the Colts twice in 3 games (4 weeks, there's a bye in there too). That's the real rough stretch of the season. Hopefully we'll have 6 or 7 wins at that point (5 at an absolute minimum), so how we handle those 4 may make or break the rest of our season. If we can win 3 of those, we may even have a shot to win the division title.

Where we are coming into Week 9 at Indy will give me myself a good idea of where we stand in terms of the division and any shot at winning it, and if we are a contender or pretender. If we're 5-4 after 9 weeks, ehh I could perhaps see another 8-8.

gtal98
04-14-2009, 07:22 PM
That's what I'm saying. Even if we are only 5-3, if we can win 3 of those divisional games we'll come out 8-4, in very good shape. If we lose 3, we'd come out 6-6 and most likely headed for another mediocre season.
If we come in with a remarkable 7-1 record, we could come out 10-2 and gunning for the division title, or 8-4 and looking for a wild card spot. Those 4 games will really determine our season.

Houston Texans 2009 Schedule
1 Sun, Sept. 13 vs. New York Jets CBS 1 p.m. (W, They Will Be Gettin Use To A New Defense And Trying Out New QB, Homefield advantage is good too.)
2 Sun, Sept. 20 at Tennessee Titans CBS 1 p.m. (W, They Lost There D-Coordinator and will struggle, running is only way they can win)
3 Sun, Sept. 27 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars CBS 1 p.m. (W, This will be a close game, but i feel our offense will take this one, with a good o-line again i see them putting up numbers)
4 Sun, Oct. 4 vs. Oakland Raiders CBS 1 p.m. (W, With Lack At WR Our Defense Will Own Them, Homefield advantage should help here)
5 Sun, Oct. 11 at Arizona Cardinals CBS 4:15 p.m. (L, Cardinals Are Pretty Good At Home Offensively, and there defense got better in postseason.)
6 Sun, Oct. 18 at Cincinnati Bengals CBS 1 p.m. (IDK, If Palmer Stays Healthy They can win this Ocho Cinco + Coles Is Pretty Deadly, But There Defense Sucks So I feel this can be a 20+ game for both sides)
7 Sun, Oct. 25 vs. San Francisco 49ers FOX 1 p.m. (W, Still with QB troubles this should be easy picking for our defense, gotta watch our for there D aswell, better offense will give us this win)
8 Sun, Nov. 1 at Buffalo Bills CBS 1 p.m. (L, I Think the chemistry between edwards and T.O. will be good by here and buffalo's defense will give us some problems.)
9 Sun, Nov. 8 at Indianapolis Colts CBS 1 p.m. ( L, Colts Get This Cause Of Homefield Advantage)
10 Bye
11 Mon, Nov. 23 vs. Tennessee Titans ESPN 8:30 p.m. (W, Being Well Rested And At Home Should Be No Problems)
12 Sun, Nov. 29 vs. Indianapolis Colts CBS 1 p.m. (W, The Momentum From last game will carry on, willams will sack peyton 3 times, gotta love home)
13 Sun, Dec. 6 at Jacksonville Jaguars CBS 1 p.m. (L, Jaguars Will be more in sync here and they are at home)
14 Sun, Dec. 13 vs. Seattle Seahawks FOX 1 p.m. (L, Seahawks offense will be hard to beat, can win if they have injury troubles like last year)
15 Sun, Dec. 20 at St. Louis Rams CBS 1 p.m. (W, There Defense Will Be Good But Not Enough To Stop Our high powered offense, and our defense will shut them down)
16 Sun, Dec. 27 at Miami Dolphins CBS 1 p.m. (W, we havent lost to them yet, why should it start now)
17 Sun, Jan. 3 vs. New England Patriots CBS 1 p.m ( IDK, this can go either way, patriots could have locked up berth and rest starters, or there high powered offense could stop us. hopefully homefield advantage gives us hope)
Record--11-5 or 9-7 , either way i see a good season to unfold.

The Colts will play the physical Ravens the week we are on Short rest after MNF that will help. Ray Lewis sitting on Manning would be cool.

this could be what we needed, to make our move:D i think everything looks gr8, but i do see those 4 division games in a row, with 1 being the MNF game. we must win those 4 to win the division. i really see us doing the cardinals in arizona and beating indy in indy:D some of you guys need more faith in our TEAM. i just cant wait to watch them win the division...its been soooooooooooo long, seems like all my life....LMFAO i sure hope our D is 1/2 as good as i think they are gona be:D....13-3...division winner with HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE through the playoffs...if the D is outstanding i make a bold prediction and say SUPER BOWL WINNERS TOO...lol

11-5 with the buffalo game being kind of iffy, but the patriots game could be a easy win if they rest brady for the playoffs.

O.K..what do you think the odds are of us playing the tack's wearing battle red against their throw back oilers uniform, on monday night? I would be freakin stoked if that happens.
What a thought! And I have a battle red Texans jersey and an old Oiler jersey that I have worn on "old timers" day. It would be a terrific hype but I don't give it a chance to happen. But how symbolic it would be to have the Texans "retire" the Oiler derrick by winning handily.

Another nice thing is the short preparation week after the Monday night game is for a team we just prepared for 3 weeks and 2 games earlier. It's a small break but it's sumpin.

I think sometime within the next two months. Season ticket holders get tickets in July. Before individual tickets go on sale, season ticket holders get first dibs on extra tickets before they're put on sale to the public.
I'm a season ticket holder, so I'll post something when we get notified that individual tickets are about to hit the market.

THX, It's just we can't afford SEASON tickets, but, I wanna go to a football game, my FIRST football game, let alone a MNF game against the TickyTacks.

I know what you mean. I almost didn't renew my tix this year for financial reasons. The economy is a mess and money is tight, but I'm trying to make it work.
Apparently some people are saying that tickets are already for sale on ebay and stub hub, so you may want to check those out, though I'm guessing those prices will be high this soon. m
