Donald Brown Not Resting On His Laurels

Donald Brown led all Division I-A running backs with 2,083 rushing yards last season, but the University of Connecticut star hasn’t relaxed in his efforts to impress NFL franchises.

Brown has taken a business-like approach to marketing his services, making sure that NFL teams and the reporters who cover them are aware of his outstanding character and off-field goals, Darren Rovell of CNBC.com reports.

Brown is working with a marketing agent, Jamey Crimmins, to get his name out there, and has conducted over 50 interviews.

Brown is projected anywhere from the first round to the second round. Mel Kiper of ESPN predicted that Brown will be the New England Patriots’ draft pick at No. 23 overall of the first round.

“If there are two guys of equal talent level, I’d hope that a team will look at my background, character and work ethic,” Brown told CNBC.

Makes sense to me.

WILL NOT HAPPEN!!! This guy is about the same size as Slaton. Kubiak wants a BIG back who can be more effective in short yardage and in the RED ZONE. See ESPN interview of Kubiak, Big Back, for Kibuak quotes. See Andre Brown or Shonn Greene.

Shows how much Mel knows or how often he follows what teams do. Let's see, Lawrence Maroney, Fred Taylor, Kevin Faulk, Sammy Morris. Ok 3 of the 4 are up there in age, but where would Brown fit in? As for us, I like him, but unfortunately, we will not be taking him.

....and you know for a fact we won't draft him?

'matter of fact' comments don't bother me, as long as the person making them knows for a fact what he/she is saying is true.

Nothing personal. Just making a statement.

I dont know for a fact but 99.9% sure that we wont. We already have our RB in Slaton. When Kubiak says "I want someone who is going to start and make an impact from day 1" tells me we wont go RB. It also tells me when Kubiak says RB1 is going to get about 20-22 carries a game and the RB2 is only going to get about 10-12, that screams no RB in the first to me. And last but least, when I hear Kubiak say something along the lines of "if there are 10 RBs out there you like, you look to see where they may fall and others go, you may be able to wait til the later rounds to pick one up". All of that tells me theyre going to [wait and] get the RB they want or may like in later rounds than the first.
