Maybin is not a bad guess. He is projected to develop into an elite pass rusher - just what the Texans need opposite of Mario. Don't see him doing anything other than playing on passing situations for us, at least in 2009. I wouldn't be upset with this pick, especially if we traded down with Tampa and got him.

Terrible mock IMO. Why the hell would we take Maybin in that situation. 1st round picks need to be starters, generally...

Because it's Mel Kiper. What research does he do? He probably doesnt even know we signed Smith and because we have Williams.(What did he say about him, hes overhyped or overrated, or said something bashing him?)

Corners are such a hot commodity, i think the first corner taken @ #14 is too low... for the corner position that is; not so much the talent.

someone will take a corner before #14 im pretty sure

I agree with you that DB's are very important, you can tell by how much money they make. The problem is, this is a pretty weak class for db's. Safeties as well. There aren't any corners that have it all. Malcolm Jenkins is close but he doesn't have the premier speed that you look for. Vonte Davis has the physical abilities but hasn't shown the production and has personality issues. The value at CB and S is in the 2nd and 3rd round.

This would be cool, because Smith usually moved inside on passing downs. I'm not sure if we should spend the 15th on a situational player, but I'd be pleased either way.

Just for arguments sake Maybin would be a situational player, however Matthews could play SLB on 1st and 2nd down and move down to DE on 3rd and obvious passing downs. For the value Matthews is a better pick IMO.

Matthews can rush and even cover in the nickle package if need be. Some are comparing him to the likes of Chad Greenway, I think there is no comparison...
