I hope we go with A. Brown with our second. We need a compliment to SS in a big way and I don't want some risky 5th round pick to be his compliment. Didn't realize how much I really cared what the Texans did in the draft til game time....

ps. I am jealous of Arizona.

you shouldn't be, we would NEVER spend the 15th on a RB, and Chris wells just MIGHT get hurt.

I guess you like watching our beloved Texans fail to gain 1 yard in critical situations. :)

We were 10th in the league on third down conversions last year, we still have a potential short yardage back in Chris Brown (if healthy) or just about any back as long as our line can get a decent push. Wells is talented, but if your rationale behind spending a first round draft pick is "We need to convert a higher percentage of our third and one's" you've got more problems than a single RB will help with.

I think the Texans have only gone through a single draft where they did not select a RB, and I don't expect this draft to be any different. We'll just have to wait and see as to the where and who.

I guess a good question is: what stud RBs are there to pick IF we don't pick up Andre in the second as I assume he won't be around by our third pick?

uh oh. it's looking like my 2 favorite guys in the whole draft will be there at 46 - Connor Barwin and Andre Brown - unless Giants grab Barwin. I think I would take Barwin over Brown. And now I am wishing we had taken Wells with our 15th even more....

A couple of other interesting options:

Sean Smith
Jarron Gilbert
Michael Johnson

I don't think Brown will be BPA at 46. So, anyone have a guess what our second will be?

Kinda like how we picked up Slaton last Draft? Nobody labeled him as a "STUD" and yet our zone blocking system does not require that we have studs. Last year when Kubiak switched us over to full ZBS and Gibbs started to work on our line they stated clearly that we will not need first round RBs to make the one cut system work. They said late round backs will be very solid much liek Terrell Davis was for the Broncos in the ZBS.

Nobody expected us to take Wells at 15. I would feel bad for Slaton as our starter if we picked a first rounder to back him up and paid the back-up more than Slaton. We will grab a RB in the 3rd or 4th that can fill in as our Bruiser back to add some thunder to Slaton's lightning and to help with Red Zone running.

Here is a tough question for ya. If both Brown and Sean Smith are still on the board when we pick in the 3rd, who do you take??? I would have to lean Sean Smith...

for me, it is an easy one. goal line scores vs. competition at CB. i'll take goal line scores any day. besides, barwin and williams are going to make our current CBs look like pro-bowlers! :D

I was thinking as Smith more as a FS, but yea Brown would be a huge asset!!! I like Shonn Greene too....

got by Giants. So, need to get by Cincy, New England, and Jets tomorrow. Those are teams most likely thinking about Brown. Good thing is that NE hasn't taken a LB yet - and they need one or two bad - and Jets need a WR for Sanchez moreso than a RB. Cincy is the wildcard and maybe they think Cedric Benson is good enough. We have a real shot at either Shonn Greene, Andre Brown or both being there when it is our turn. Question now is - will we pull the trigger on one of them? I certainly hope so. Remember that next year's draft is stacked with S talent - so we just need to limp by this year with what we have - and it may surprise to the upside. Also, if SS goes down, our season is screwed, not to mention that we have no way to easily punch the ball in from the 1 yard line right now.

Shonn Greene will no doubt be gone before our pick in the third, although if he is still available he would be a steal in the 3rd.

I would be shocked if the Browns do not take him.

If he is there, it's a done deal!
