Is James Casey our answer for the wildcat package? He ran it at Rice. The more I think of it the more this seems to be a BPA pick who will come in as an athlete and play multiple roles. Kind of like when college's recruit guys as athletes and find a position for them later. I still would rather have had a rb.

You have to use 2 really quick explosive RB's for wildcat, Casey is slow as heck.

Seriously? Casey has great speed considering his size. I believe he was in the 4.5-4.6 range. He also played some QB in college as well as ran the ball. He is one of the only guys in the draft that actually played in a wildcat set in college.

I dont think its the Casey pick we should be frantic about...its the Hill pick when we needed a bruising running back and they both came off the board after the hill pick and before the casey pick....

I dont care what he did in CUSA, him as a NFL wildcat player will not work.

4.7

Not blazing speed, but he sounds like a strong player considering he placed first in the benchpress with something like 28 reps.

If he is here for the wildcat he will not be the "speed running" portion of that offensive set. He would be the runner/passer that would be used to stretch the defense and pass it to the open option or tuck it and power through defenders.

You are jumping the gun a bit. He sounds like a very gifted athlete to me and looks to be a person with a drive to succeed at anything he does.

He got drafted our of high school to play baseball for the white socks?

He went to Rice and succeeded on the field and in the classroom.

He led the combine in the bench press and did well in all his drills for multiple positions.

I woudl not be so quick to write him off with Rick Smith being the one judging his talent.

Hill is the pick I am a little stumped on.

You guys need to pay attention to wat people actually post, as TE I think he is good, he killed my coogs. But the topic of the post was "wildcat" and casey in a true wildcat formation will not work in the NFL. Many of you guys posting in this thread saying he has the run/throw option are no longer describing the wildcat offense. Wildcat is a misdirection play involving usually 2 Rb's, throwing from the formation is really rare. what is being describe here is more like an "option" type QB that can run, throw or hand it off and that's not wildcat.

I am refering to him as an all around player anda person that has a drive to succeed. I am glad I can reply to the threads as I see fit and you will just have to chill out.

Casey did showcase his throwing ability on his pro day. It was said to be excellent.
