Obviously the theme of our draft this year is versatility.

-Cushing is able to play all the LB positions
-Barwin is an able tight end and had double digit sacks as a DE in his first year at the position.
-Caldwell can play both center and guard
-Glover was considered a safety/cb tweener
-Hill is a TE that was compared to having a third tackle on the field
-Casey is a former QB who played 7 different positions in one game at Rice.

Smithiak are finding smart high motor players that can play a variety of positions to help provide depth at as many positions as possible. Not too mention most of these players are great special teamers who can instantly upgrade our coverage and return units. That's gonna be very important now due to the rule change that no longer allows player wedges or wedge busters. It might not be a very exciting draft but this is going to take care of alot of our needs and help make the team stronger as a whole.

Nice to see some people looking past the position labels that were assigned to them by the NFL Combine. This has been an interesting draft strategy and I am excited to see how it pans out... unlike these doom and gloom guys who are already giving up on the season.

Honestly, we won't know the real worth of this draft class until the 2010 season. Other then Cushing, know of them will be starters until then unless we get major injuries or really bad production.

Either way, I see the logic in all of the picks. Probably the only one I might consider the most dangerous of being a bust so far might be Barwin, but with the Smith pick up, this is really a situational/younger backup player so as I said, the true worth of these picks will probably take a while to really show up.

I can envision a gnarly jumbo set with Hill as the inline TE, and Casey and Daniels as wideouts. Slaton should have a field day running behind these guys.

send me some koolaid please! :D

I am going to drown myself in it. Especially when I see 5 tight ends march out on the field at every skill position. Whoa. can you imagine that? Defenses would be laffing so hard they wouldn't be able to stop us.

seriously, I too am looking forward to see it "pan out."
