and then leave 5 minutes later for the Texans weightroom. These 3 are freaks athletically, moreso maybe than anyone in the draft. Their intensity and football nature is going to bring a lot to the Texans. I know a lot of people wanted some scrub RB with our 4th or 5th pick but these guys are all weapons.

You move Smith inside and then 'send' Barwin from outside and Cush up the middle? You line Casey at FB on the goal line and run it or play-action pass it him? Or line him up against the LB anywhere in the redzone?

You get a CB who will likely be moved to safety. You know why he looks like he got beat in the videos? Because he turns his head and looks for the football and then CLOSES to the ball. I don;t need to say Reeves name here, do I?

You get a ZBS C/G/T hybrid from Saban's system who can play anywhere onthe line? And Hill who can play TE/T as well?

This has been a GREAT draft for our squad so far. Maybe not for Madden 2010 but in real life, we just got much NASTIER, MEANER, FASTER, and more aggressive in 2 days.

Casey at FB? No thanks I will stick with the man killer Vonte. He can catch the ball also.

Were you intending for that to be a joke? Vonte is a beastly blocker... he is far from having sure hands. I remember him wide open in the flats dropping a ball on the 5 with no players around him. He could have rolled into the endzone if he wanted, but instead he just dropped a lob pass on the ground.

If we need lead blocking... Vonte will rip the heads off anyone.

If we need two threats in the backfield that can catch... I could see Casey being an option.

Vonta can't catch. Some of those are just by chance. He'll let one go though his legs when he's standing wide open. But he's the best blocking option at blocking FB that we have.

I think Casey is intended to help us more in the red zone.

I'm hoping to quote this thread three years from now... and just say "They didn't walk into a bar, they raised it."

I'm cautiously opimistic at the moment, but there's still a lot of time before the regular season starts. Can't wait to see what happens between now and then.

Agreed 100%!!! I love what this draft brings to this team. We bring in players who are intense, hard working, winner-types, and best of all play multiple positions. These are the types of players that the Patriots bring in.

You don't need to bring in a low-rated RB if you don't like what's on the board; you can always sign a free agent RB for a year or two and wait until you find someone you like in next years draft.

Casey has the potential to be a great H-Back in my mind. Similar to Chris Cooley. 2 TE sets or coming out of the backfield.

I agree with the Cooley ideal completely... Kubes LOVES his trickery. Can you see a direct snap to Casey in the backfield and he just starts sweeping....OH WAIT....yeah, there's Owen Daniels dragging across the field and so he throws it.

Also. with these three, as well as the C from Bama, they got four HIGHLY intelligent football players. Intelligence is such a big factor and that's why guys like Demeco come in and start at the Mike because they 'get it.'

We just got a group players that, from all scouting reports and NFL feedback, just seem to 'get it!' That's fun football to watch. I think our top2 picks are just going to be dynamic - running and screaming all over the field. Can't freaking wait!

Whats sick is Glover Quin is quite possible just as purely athletic as Barwin (who is no doubt the true freak of the draft).

Check out this tidbit from CBS -

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1115231

The three-year starter emerged as one of college football's elite pass coverage defenders. In addition to registering seven interceptions during the course of his last 14 games, he also established a new school career record with 32 pass deflections, becoming just the fifth player in Mountain West Conference annals to break up more than 30 passes in a career.

Quin is not only a quality deep coverage defender, thanks to his quickness and leaping ability, but he is perhaps pound-for-pound one of the strongest defensive backs in the country. While his 40 3/4-inch vertical jump set a school position record, he also earned the team Beefmaster Award in 2008 for his performance in the weight room. He put up 360 pounds in the bench, 328 in the power clean, 500 in the squat and 305 in the incline press.

At North Pike High school, Quin lettered four times in both football and basketball, earning the Jaguar's team MVP Award in both sports as a senior. He totaled 2,552 rushing yards, 224 tackles and 13 interceptions during his prep career. He also received the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete Award.

That is an amazing display of strength for a 210lb guy who can hang with WR's in the nickel. And obviously the vertical shows his explosiveness.

I was dubious as the first couple of picks rolled out, but the more I check into these guys, the more I heartily concur with the above post.

Sounds better than direct snapping it to Ahman Green again to have him trip and fall before pasing the line of scrimage. :)

one thing is for sure...drafting casey just improved our redzone offense a ton...imagine if you will...line up with two TE's (casey and OD) and two WR (AJ and Walter) with slaton in the backfield...quickly shift to shotgun with OD and Casey as the slots...what LB can cover them in space? and what corner could match them phsyically in that space? answer...none that i've seen...plus you still gotta cover Andre and kevin without giving up the flats to slaton...shoot...schaub should have a field day in the redzone

couldn't love the cushing pick more...love the kid's intense motor...we needed this nasty mofo on our D

barwin (although i'd prefer william moore to help the backfield) brings a ton of athletic talent to the DE position...have to believe RT's like david stewart (tenn) will not be able to handle his speed one on one
