Johnson is a small guy but has good vision and a massive stiff arm. Hopefully he can carry that into the NFL and give Slaton a break.

This guy could be a steal, he can bounce, catch, and he's willing to take on a crowd to get the extra yards.

Found both links saying two different teams grabbed Foster. It was reported on WWL twice that the Saints did. Any help clearing this up?

I like his ability to make the first guy miss. He lacks ideal speed but we already have our home run hitter. He does have a tendancy to try to break runs outside which will not work in the nfl with his speed. I like the signing.

I am too lazy to get the link but John McClain reported it on chron.com. I am sure he verified this with the Texans before he reported it.

It looks like he dances in the backfield a little to much for the ZBS. Kinda slow for a small back with a 4.57 40. He had good numbers though J. Stewart is doing pretty good in the nfl so maybe these Oregon backs equate well. I hope it works out but I have my money on Foster being the UDFA that makes the team.

both look like they have really good vision, but way too much dancing around for my taste. I'd rather have a north to south runner.

Arian looks to be a solid back for us. He could very well be a bigger slaton. With his one cut and go he would be ideal for our system.

Wow, Foster has some pass catching skills and yards after the catch. It seems most of the dancing was due to OL failures.

I like Foster also and I would not take anything away from his skills but he also had some insanely great blocking on all his runs. Either way the kid is good though. I like the moves and if they don't make it we did not lose any draft picks on them.
great additions

Johnson has had a torn ACL and is only 5'9...both a concern. Thought we were looking for a bruiser? His film looked good, averaged over 7 yrs p/carry.

Foster is a big kid with a bit more zip than I expected and shows better wiggle than I expected. However, he bounced wide a lot, but that sort of looked like their game plan to do that, so its hard to tell if he just does it. He caught several passes in the piece, but only one or two had any difficulty to them, but he did catch them and that's the important thing. Didn't see more than 1-2 runs where he was showing the power type run that we will expect him to do, but on them he bowled a couple of guys over. Since we gave him a two year deal which is VERY unusual for a UFDA, I suspect they think he will be our short yardage guy. Looks pretty good in the highlight stuff.

The 1201 yards and 7.1 ypc was the year after his inury.

I like the Foster kid better than Johnson. Johnson's injury history is worrisome at best. he also seemed to avoid all contact, where as Foster broke right thru tackles. I agree about the bounce outside. I think that can be coached though.

I like Foster, I know our zone scheme is go! but in the vols scheme he really excelled waiting for his blocks to develop and running behind them

I like both of them. Slaton/Foster/Johnson would be a pretty solid backfield.
I doubt Chris Brown makes the team. Is there room for 4 rbs if they want to keep Moats around?

I think you wil find Chris Brown isn't going anywhere. He is a true ZBS back and if he is really healthy everyone will see what that looks like. Foster and Johnson are insurance and TC bodies.

I did not see that many impressive runs from either of the two. All I know is 256 players were selected in the draft and neither were in the 256

Foster MIGHT be the power compliment we need to Slaton. Jeremiah Johnson isn't; he's more like the speedy, quick compliment to some starting power back. On the bright side, they both look like guys who deserved to get drafted and just didn't. We just got a couple of 5th or 6th round guys through UDFA. I'll take it.
If Foster works out as our occasional power back (and nothing else just goes terribly wrong), we have just really nailed this draft.

Im not sure why everyone thinks brown will be cut. Hes healthy now and Smith and Kubiak have been doing nothing but singing his praises. Its not like hes our starter, if he can carry 5-10 times a game and keep Slaton from getting beat down, good to go.

Found this link on Foster.

Seems he had fumbleitis and was the victim of a poor O-line last year. He was projected as a 2nd round pick in the 2008 draft but chose to return to school.
He has great potential.

Foster looked very solid and would be a nice change of pace to Slaton. I am sure he is going to stay upright longer than Chris Brown and he should have the weight to punch through in the red zone!
He might be a steal considering he was not drafted and we were able to scoop him up over other temas that wanted him.

So Ahmad Bradshaw was passed on too but look at his superbowl ring and tell me he wasn't worth it. GM's and coaches still have no idea how to determine a future star from a bust you would have a better chance looking at a new born and telling me if they will be a straight a student a C student or a drop out 0.02

If anything keep three and put 1 on the PS and develop him. I think Foster is a dark horse to be a solid runner I think the dancing is coachable and may go away if the runner is confident in the system and his front 7. When we had DD he danced a lot due to our line being less than stellar. I think with a more athletic and more versatile O line you will see more disciplined running.
My Depth chart at this point
1. Slaton
2. Brown
3. Moats
4. Foster
5. Johnson

I just watched Fosters video and was looking specifically at his vision. I noticed that he is a large player than can see the cut-back lanes when they open. I honestly see Foster pushing Brown for the number 2 spot if he can adapt to the NFL. With Brown's injury history I am not expecting much from him, but if he is able to stay healthy I am sure he will be a great 2nd for Slaton.
Foster makes me feel much better about waiting to see if Brown can sty upright! :)

I just hope they are treated better than Darius Walker was and not just be on the practice squad.

Darius Walker is not at an NFL starter level. The only reason he saw the field was that he did not fumble like Echimbe (sp?) and everyone else was injured except for Ron Dayne.
I enjoyed watching Walker, but he had trouble getting over the practice squad hump of productivity.

i couldnt disagree more other than your starter, i see:
1/ slaton
2/ johnson
3/ foster
4 moats (if we keep 4 active
5 brown CUT....how many times do we need to see him on IR before we realize great potential means nothing if you cant trust him to be on the field ?
