Present And Future Texans

The Texans have had the kinda draft that good teams are built on. They didn't get a lot of flash but they got a lot of sold pieces. All the players drafted were captains on there teams, and all have been described as hard working and smart. Basically they didn't get any pre-madonnas they got guys who are going fight from the first quarter til the last. They also showed those guys who thought they could hold the team hostage that they could easily be replaced.
Getting Foster, Johnson, Watkins,Jones, and even Walker where just iceing on the cake.

Now for my die hard draft fans. Next years draft looks full of big DT and athletic safeties. I think that next year well be interesting with Dunta and OD probably being in trade talks. Anyway my players to watch next year well be mostly DT and safeties so here's my short list.

Terrence Cody
Jarvis Jenkins
Boo Robinson
Vince Oghobaase
Kellen Heard
All these guys are massive run stoppers. Shuan Cody is no more then a stop gap and this is the last year for guys like Travis Johnson and Frank Okam. This could be a place of need.

Safeties
Taylor Mays
Kam Chancellor
Major Wright
Reshad Jones
Myron Lewis
Chad Jones
Deunta Williams
These guys are either ball hawks are guys who will knock your teeth out. I think we see if Nolan and Dom Barber are the future if not this we'll be the draft to upgrade.
I also think we should look at corner, wideout, and some more o-linemen.
I didnt put QB because I'm holding out hope that the Titans be dumb enough to let Vince walk.

You know it is the offseason when we are looking towards next years draft before the guys we picked even suit up. I would say that DT, S, and CB would be our most likely first round selections. It is way too early to tell, what if Molden and Bennett have a great 09? What if Barber and one of the rookie's has a great 09? What if TJ has a great 09? Wait, I guess that means we are going DT.

I agree S, CB, and DT are probably the positions we'll be drafting in the first few rounds. I'm not worried about Barber having a great year those odds are slim and none so safety should be a very high priority next year. I hope Bennett has a great year so that CB won't be a real high priority and I hope that TJ has a great year as well, FA contract year, so that we can trade him and get something in return instead of just letting him walk. The problem if TJ has a great year though is deciding whether it was because he played better due to a contract year or if it was because of the new defensive scheme.

For one fans are just kicking sand waiting on the season to start.

Two don't be so quick to put TJ out there because even if he plays good he's still just a UT we need a NT. I also said that if Dom Barber and Nolan don't show something we should look safety. As for the corner back spot even if Molden and Bennett show up we'll need guys behind them.

I also said that this post was for draft fans I never said none of our present Texans would fail.

We've been saying that since LAST year...Two things everyone was saying all last season; get rid of Richard Smith and address the CB/S situation in the draft. Then last draft we thought we were going to take care of it and draft someone high but we also had the LT issue to fix so we went in that direction. Now all of the sudden this year we needed LBs, DEs, TEs and OL?!? We picked up some secondary help in later rounds...seemed like an afterthought. I thought if anything, draft secondary help in the higher rounds and fill these holes(?) at LB, TE and OL in the later rounds. OH well, they must have a plan.

I agree, but what do we know, Smith/Kubiak thought that 3rd and 4th string TE's were more important than starting Safeties or quality CB's. :mad:
