AMOBI Okoye was lined up in front of a tackling dummy and waiting for the go-ahead from defensive line coach Jethro Franklin.
As soon as he heard the orders, Okoye ran right at the bag and did a spin move as he rolled around it. As Okoye walked back to his place, he straightened a football lying at an angle on the ground next to his bag.
"Don't touch my ball, rook!" Franklin yelled.
Okoye backed away and said nothing. Another lesson learned.
Weaver and Williams will line up on the outside with Jason Babin as a situational pass rusher. Inside, Okoye will start alongside Anthony Maddox, Travis Johnson or Zgonina. Okoye, Williams, Babin and Johnson were selected in the first round in the past four years.

Kalu- "It's good to have that talent there, but we have to perform."

For a while Chester is going to own him, Chester has played LT so he can use his hands and the fact he is a guard he can get his hands outside the numbers easier, and not get flagged as easily as he can playing LT.

Nice that they are making him feel welcome. Lets just hope its not "welcome to the high draft pick/ low output club"

I like how Mario's stepping up and trying to become a leader on this team.

I do not know why people have a problem with this pick.

Because...
Because...
I don't know why either. Actually, the media had a problem because we didn't pick an O-Lineman like they said we should (they don't know how Kubiak drafts OL). But fans, I don't know.

Well, the dicontent stems from Mel Kiper and Friends who had been saying that we should take the Michigan cornerback (Hall, right?), nevermind that he has limited height and poor turn-and-cover speed which would just expose our safeties even more.
The ESPN draft "gurus" had already blown it with Brady Quinn, so I think they were a little indignant that the Texans would question their "genius," too. Funny how neither of those ESPN-annointed "top ten picks" faired very well, isn't it?

Yeah I think we are all in agreement that Mel is a *********, who pouts when people don't go along with what he thinks is best for their team regardless of how good or bad the player is or becomes
That's Mel "I guarantee when we look back 5 years from now, neither Joey Harrington or David Carr will be a bust" Kiper.

Mel is his own worst enemy come draft day.
The guy has spent the past 364 days, prior to each year's draft, evaluating and predicting where each player will go on draft day.
IMO, he gets too emotionally attached to his job.
So when a team doesn't pick a guy he thinks will fit them best...he gets miffy about it. He thinks he knows where each player fits. And, to a degree, you're right: Mel doesn't like to be questioned or to made the fool.
Hall would have been a failure. I agree with what's been said already: He did not impress me, not even in his best highlights.
But as I watched and re-watched Amobi at the Senior Bowl, motoring past linemen and sacking the QB without breaking stride...I was elated when he fell to us at No. 10. Elated.

I think almost everyone can see how much Phe benefits this team. We're well on our way to building a dominant D-Line because of him, which will benefit the rest of the defense tremendously. Besides, good CBs come out every year, while good pass-rushing DTs don't.
