RED LOT is the best keep secret, not crowded and pretty liberal.

Blue lot- hard core(lots of promo stuff)90% of blue lot tailgates
Orange lot-Grunge core-Not a lot of tailgaters and all but a few very typical of bring your own backyard pit and grill up a few burgers or something. Not too fancy for the majority who do but 90% orange lot doesn't tailgate.
Red lot- my favorite so far. Hard core mixed in with casual tailgaters. Sometimes the music is too loud and the parking attendants are not too bright but the people are friendly and a good party atmostphere. 35% parking lot tailgates.

Those are the only ones i've been in. Of course i've made broad generalizations here. Blue lot is great for die hard tailgaters who want to get there earlier than 4 hours to get things started. Red lot is low key hard core tailgaters. More mellow atmosphere. Orange lot's best feature is getting to walk around the astrodome to get to the stadium. Memories....lol

yo's assessment was pretty accurate - sort of depends on your favorite flavor

he didn't mix in yellow that has to be added primarily for the miller lite beer bombs

can't remember the name of the place that gives them out ( don't know why )

but they also feature exuberant texan toasts that helps get the party started.

so my vote is yellow, where i'm happy to be for half the regular season this year

I also like the yellow lot! it's a pretty good walk to the stadium but I can't complain. It's also very easy to get into the parking lot which is nice...

Blue and Yellow. I REALLY miss being in the Yellow lot. I just remember heading toward the stadium and walking by a very good tailgating atmosphere and smelling all that food.

I have only been tailgating at a Texans game once, we were in the Blue lot for the Rosencopter game last year. We had the best time, it was truly a party atmosphere, Texans fans and BBQ smoke as far as the eye can see. Planning going back to game 1 against the Jets and yes we are buying Blue lot tickets again.

I personally enjoy the YELLOW LOT. It has the nice grass so the sun isn't reflection off the concrete. I'm sure it makes it 10-15 degrees cooler. It's also better for kids and drunks playing catch because no skinned knees when they lay out for a pass. The only downside is that it's a 2 beer walk to the stadium, which is just fine by me. I like beer!

Blue and Yellow are the best, Orange and red are a distant second, purple green brown etc all bring up the rear. But you can have fun in any lot for any game it is mostly about the crew you tailgate with, the surroundings help which is why blue and yellow are the best. I have done 6 or so game sin blue and 60+ games in yellow so I am partial to yellow, but getting out after the game sucks, so you just talegate for an hour afterwards and the problem is gone.

I would have to say, the lot you are in and someone invites you in to join them is the best. No matter what color of the lot it is, hospitatlity is 90% of the gig. Of course cold refreshments and hot BBQ doesn't hurt either.... :p

The best tailgating lot is the one that you are in. I personally like BLUE.

Ok, so I have a blue parking pass for the season and this will be my first tailgating experience. I won't be able to tailgate for the two preseason games, but I really look forward to starting out with the Jets game. Let me know if any of the crews in the blue are looking for some joiners... and what kind of food to bring along.
