Texans preview for the 2009 season. Things are on the upswing and everything surrounding this team is positive!

The writer acknowledges that the team had the 3rd best offense in terms of yards per game. He states that the team had the 4th best PASSING attack.

The article more or less tells us what we already know, if only we had pulled our finger out and not lost to Oakland we would have had our first winning season!

bold article. i think he has allot of solid points, but our secondary is going to make or break us. i hope the upgraded LB corp help relieve some pressure on the secondary. reading this article pretty much feeds into my best hope for the texans after 16 games.

Dick Smith is gone, that alone is going to make us better.

Agree 100%! Maybe we will actually see more than 1 blitz per game this season!

I think we will be seeing a WHOLE lot of blitzes, and blitzes wins stuff, I couldn't make it rhyme.

Not a bad article really. 11-5 seems reasonable but 11-5 will not win the AFC South.

2009:

Record vs AFC South: 4 wins, 2 losses

Record vs Rest of Schedule: 7 wins, 3 losses

Regular Season: 11 - 5.

It was certainly better written than the rapping in this thread. :)

11-5 should win the AFC South, may not have last year but alot has changed since then. Colts lost too many coaches that made that team function, Titans lost their DC and their best defensive player. Jax is Jax and it is believed that Del Rio has lost that team so the only team in the division that has improved is the Texans.

Nobody is going to run away with the Division like they did last year...

The Titans will go 12-4
The Texans will go 11-5
The Colts will go 9-7
The Jags will go 7-9

As the author said "the best division in the nfl". This time though we are not on the bottom looking up, just not at the top looking down. That will happen in 2010.

Texans 11-5
Titans 9-7
Colts 9-7
Jags 5-11

I like this one better... but the Colts above the Tacks though and we will be gravy! :D

I think you are right about the Texans having a great year this year. I'm not sure about 11-5, but definitely 10-6 or at worst 9-7. Unfortunately, I think the Colts will be at least 10-6. Hope I'm wrong.

AFCN is kind of tough too - the Ravens are going to be pretty tough to deal with next season. Then again, we have the Browns and Bengals.

Key to the season: Fast start.

Best the Jets here, beat the Tacks there, and beat the Jags here, we start 3-0.
Confidence is growing.
Win 3 or maybe even 4 of the next 4 games and we go to visit the Colts at 6 -1 or maybe even 7-0.
Colts will be a tough game in their house a loss there would not surprise me, but I doubt we get blown out.
A week to rest up and host the Colts again and the Tacks and then visit the Jags. These could well be the three games that define our playoff hopes. Hopefully, we come out of those 3 with at least 2 wins

A couple of tough games in the last 4, especially against New England which will be switched to National TV because of the playoff implications. 2 of 4 wins in those.

OK, I know I was very optimistic in game 2, but I think I was pessamistic in the last 4 so at this point 10-6 seems very possible this year.
