just by what you have seen, and from past seasons(and seeing guys we drafted or FAs), who will be starting on both O and D in game 1?

Just your thoughts, but lets see how similar we or different our ideas are.

On D:
DE- Mario and Smith
MLB-Meco
CB- Reeves (not sure if D-rob will play till inked)
S- Demps
After that, alot of guys could be in as starters.

On O:
QB- Matt
RB- Slaton
FB- Leach
WR- AJ and Walters
OL- I'd say they will stay as it has been.
TE- unsure right now

My O, is pretty much set...the D is a question as we now have some guys who can step in. And some guys(like D-rob) that without new contracts...may hold out.

I think if it started today that is the way it would look. I would imagine that some younger guys will crack into the starting line-up before the season starts though...

This is going to be the least off-season change ever. On O, exact same starting line up. Maybe Caldwell pushes later in the year, but barring a training camp injury same eleven starters. On D, Smith instead of Weaver Adibi in at WLB and Cushing in at SLB. Maybe Barber wins at SS. Otherwise same starters.

I figure the Texans want him to start ASAP, but they just don't want to push him.

Why doesn't anyone think Cato June will start at WLB? That is where he was most successful at with the Colts. Or is it just because he is aging and Adibi has fresher legs?

With the depth we have this year, I think whoever is listed at #1 at a spot is almost meaningless for a lot of positions. Look for a lot of substitutions to keep fresh bodies in the lineup on both sides of the ball this year.

Demps was here last season. They cut him loose in late February of this year.

Looking at it right now, I concur with JohnDoe's. I think Ferguson and DelJuan will start.

My only disagreement is Dunta. I don't think he'll be starting week 1. I think it will be Reeves and Bennett.

Quality depth on the team is better than it has ever been IMO at most positions which could lead to a mild "surprise" or two by the start of the season but I agree with the call above on "base O" and "base D" starters with the exception of:

DT- My prediction is Okam takes TJ's spot this year. Even though he did nothing last year, I like very much how he took his coaching during the off-season, lost a bunch of weight, showed up at OTA in shape, and absolutely love where I think his head is going into this season.

When we play teams that pass 30+ times a game (ie the colts), I believe the starters on D will change to Smith moving inside into TJ's old spot, with Mario and Barwin on the outside in order to disrupt Manning's timing and comfort at the line.

Regardless of who "starts", there are a bunch of guys IMO not on the list above who are going to see a bunch of playing time (and not just because of injuries to the starters) but because of specific game plan match ups and keeping nothing but fresh and fast legs on the field.

Man I can't wait for this year, I believe on both sides of the ball the Texans are going to play faster than most of the teams we compete against...and if we do......
