I'm a Bears fan and have been a long-time supporter of Rex since his Gator days. Just curious if any of you have been able to see him or seen reports of his performance in TC so far. I'm sure he's moved on from his days in Chicago, but there are still fans from his old team who are grateful for what he's done for us and wish him the best in Houston (and of course, there are the others). You guys just became my favorite team in Texas (I never liked 'dem Cowboys). Our only consolation in this whole thing with losing Rex was that we were able to land Cutler. Hopefully a new town and a new start will bring back the gunslinger we saw at the beginning of the 2006 season and in the playoffs. Good luck Rex and good luck with him in Houston!

Yeah, now that you got Cutler when are y'all going to go get Burress and harrisson and Toomer? Cutler will suck without weapons.
I have no news on you man Rex. He seems to be eager to land a spot. I feel like he will make the team as our third or second string depending on preseason performance and what the coaches see at practices.
He's too good of an insurance policy at his price tag to let walk off our team. I say he makes it and hopefully doesn't play. We are all pretty comfortable with Matt Schaub. No way Rex takes the starter job without injury. That's pretty much how i see it panning out.

training camp hasn't even started yet so there's nothing to even report about him.

only mention of Grossman from training camp so far is positive:
This from the training camp day 2 recap: http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5408
"receiver Jacoby Jones had one of the most impressive plays of the morning training session, catching a perfect deep bomb along the left sideline from quarterback Rex Grossman and drawing loud cheers from fans in attendance…"
Grossman from TC day 3 not as good, but sounds like his is throwing the deep ball well as usual: http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5411
"Cornerback A.J. Davis had an impressive interception of quarterback Rex Grossman on the left sideline, stepping in front of a receiver to make the grab just before running out of bounds….wide receiver Jacoby Jones had a tough practice, dropping a catchable deep bomb from Grossman late in the team phase of the workout. Jones had a few steps on his man, but the ball caromed off his chest and out of reach before he could grab it…."
This is the only mention of Orlovsky so far from TC day 4:
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5414
"rookie tight end James Casey hauled in a deep pass near the left sideline on a throw from Dan Orlovsky. Casey also received words of encouragement from Kubiak for his blocking on a running play to the right side…wide receiver André Davis was unable to catch a couple of deep balls thrown his way, including one throw that went wide out of bounds. But he made a highlight-reel catch on a ball from Orlovsky that was deflected and popped several feet up in the air before Davis came down with it in traffic…Cushing intercepted Orlovsky on a pass intended for tight end Anthony Hill over the middle, ending one of the team periods. from week 13 in regards to the Orlovsky/Grossman battle:
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5457
Their season is the preseason: With no quarterback controversy to be found in Texans camp, the preseason will be the sole chance for backup quarterbacks Dan Orlovsky and Rex Grossman to prove to their coaches and teammates that they can step in and succeed if starter Matt Schaub is ever lost to injury.
"As a backup quarterback, this is your season," Kubiak said. "Dan's going to play half a football game coming up here on Saturday, probably pretty close to the same in Week 2, not as much in Week 3 then play a whole game in Week 4, so this is his season to prove to this team that if something happens to Matt, he's ready to go."
Grossman, who is expected to play for the entire fourth quarter Saturday, drew praises from Kubiak on how quickly he had progressed in adapting to the Texans' offensive schemes. Although the West Coast-style offense run by Kubiak is significantly different from the scheme he was used to in Chicago, Grossman feels that his exposure to both schemes will help him immensely come gameday.
"I've enjoyed it," Grossman said. "There's a lot of things we didn't do in Chicago that we do here that I think will help me as a quarterback, so I'm looking forward to going out and doing that on Saturday."
