View Full Version : #2 RB Dilemma...Trade for Tashard Choice?

Might not be a bad idea, considering Marion Barber and Felix Jones are the primary two guys in Big D. Also, with Dallas contemplating basing out of Ace this season, Choice may not get much time anyway.
The only player we have whom the Cowboys would be interested in is Dominique Barber, and I'd be hesitant to make that deal. In fact, I WOULDN'T make that deal, since I like Dominique's potential A LOT.
I thought about Travis Johnson, but he would struggle at End in Dallas's 3-4 the same way he struggled here as a 3-4 End. They wouldn't want him.
A 2010 draft pick would be our best bet to get Dallas to part with their young RB.
Thoughts?

TJ is a 4-3 DT, and too small for 3-4 NT, and not physical enough presence to be a 3-4 end.
tashard choice is intriguing, but i doubt jerry lets him go cheap. i do not believe rick the kind of GM who trades for HB's.

Choice sure does look good out there. Man, they have a great RB corps.

I like the idea of going after Tashard Choice but I doubt seriously if the Cowboys would go for that. We could then cut Chris Brown and Jeremiah Johnson. In any other year I'd give up Dominique Barber for Choice in a second but we are so short in the secondary and especially at SS that it's just not a good time for that trade, plus Dallas would want more than just Barber for Choice. I'd throw in Travis Johnson and Troy Nolan to sweeten the deal and hope that Barber is decent enough to make it through the season and then we can draft a good safety next year.

J.J. has been cut allready. I would offer Dunta for Tashard with an incentives based deal that would give us a 4th to 5th round draft choice based on his performance Dallas needs a cb on the other side of Newman.

they arent going to go after anyone as long as Brown is healthy.

We haven't even seen a preseason game yet and we are already talking trade? Can't we exercise just a little bit of patience and live with the assumption this franchise knows what it is doing? last thing we need to do is make some frantic trade for a running back that will only get 10-12 carries a game and whiffs on blitz pickup with an injury prone QB. I say wait and see some of our backs may surprise you.

Well, look who's Mr. Glass Half Full....;)
I'm just saying he'd be a good back to have. Not panicking.
Chris Brown. Stay healthy?? Hah!

I agree we need to see what the preseason brings rather than just speculate wildly about a talented 3rd running back on another team that has virtually no chance of being traded.

I lk T.C.
I would lk to see him in a Texans uni but I cant stand Dallas
and knowing them they wouldnt trade him. And they are not gunna release or cut him. Him is a great insurance policy to F.Jones and M. Barber

Since when does a cheap shot make you injury prone?

we don't even know that we have a #2 RB dilemma. Maybe wait till we play one game before we decide who we need next?

Call it prudent planning.
I hope we can rely on Moats and/or Foster when Brown goes down. He's got a career full of injury problems, and nothing makes me think he'll be healthy all season.
I really hope Foster blossoms into a great back. But trading for Choice wouldn't be a terrible thing to think about.
Look, none of us work in the Texans' Front Office, but I think it's fun to discuss things like this.

The heck w/all that, they should trade Dunta, and a mid to late round draft pick next year so they could move up and draft Safety Taylor Mays from USC. :D

Agreed. CB could turn into A Green v2 but I'm trying to be optimistic. Moats is okay but he is no Slaton. Foster has potential but is still unproven. We will know after the next couple of preseason games whether or not we need to shop another RB. Lets pray that we are finally good to go this year.

Well as much as I'd like to agree' we most likely will go with what we have and if Brown does go down we could see a mid season signing or Torrain or Young.

There's just a chance they would trade him for Jacoby Jones.
Hmmm. Al Davis of the Raiders likes speed. Maybe we could get Michael Bush? They have at least 5 really good running backs.

Valid point. And Al is now going a bit foggy upstairs, he may give us a pick of what RB we want for JJ:rolleyes:

I like Choice but we don't need to trade for anybody. There are going to be a lot of decent runing backs avaialble as training camp cuts begin.

i dont see us doing anything with dallas period. A healthy SLAYTON/BROWN would be enough to carry us to the SUPER BOWL. KUBIAK loves to get running backs, ( BRONCO HABITS) so even with 2 healthy running backs he will still be looking for 1 more.............if he hasnt ALREADY made his decision for the 3rd...he will soon enough. i like JJ alot......BUT.....if he fumbles 1 more time...i believe he will be DOWN THE ROAD....2009 THE YEAR OF THE TEXAN:D

I think we will carry Slaton BROWN Foster and Moats on the Roster we gave Foster a two year deal because many teams wanted him, he hits the PS some other team would sign him away Hall would not be PS available but he would be on speed dial not Foster

Foster is PS eligible but will be signed away if he goes there, I assume Moats has no PS availability left. So if he only carries 3 RB and Leach Moats doesn't make the squad?? We will see, I just know if they want Foster next year they can't put him on the PS, lets hope we have all four backs healty come 9/7 and we have to make that decision

Sadly, given the talk or lack of it I am hearing about Moats, the team probably might just cut him if they take Foster and Brown on to the 52 man roster.

Just watch him in the games and see if he steps up. Preseason is his chance to prove himself

Am I only one sick of Cowgirls fans...trying to dump their trash here!!! We have a solid running game don't need to waste a draft pick on a 3rd stringer

I agree with you to a degree, some Texans fans do have a bad habit of looking at the Cowboys' roster and thinking of trade possibilities with their players. For the Texans to establish their own strong identity in Texas, they have to do so with players who never played for the Cowboys. The Texans do not want to be known as an expansion team anymore, and they certainly do not want to be known as a place where the Cowboys or any other teams send their second tier players.

Choice is a starter in this league. He's just in a tough place, behind the two guys he's behind. Just so we're clear.

i agree he could start for a few teams in this league, not many, but a few. His situation is similar to Michael Bush in Oakland, he just is behind two other starting caliber backs. I dont think we need a trade, after what I saw out of Brown and Moats. I am not against us improving depth especially as we seem to have a rash of injuries.

i wanted choice back the year he was drafted...thought he would be an ideal back for the ZBS...i'd love to get him in a trade but i doubt it will happen...that said...if kansas city (who will probably cut one or two backs) cuts dantrell savage (currently their number 4 guy) he would be a back worth taking
