View Full Version : Would You Want The Texans To Go After WR Brandon Marshall?
If Denver traded this guy, would you want the Texans to try and pick him up? The guy is a hell of a wide receiver, but he's going about his request for a trade the wrong way. Being a Texans fan, I wouldn't mind having two solid receivers along with Kevin Walter. It will never happen, Bob McNair wants classy guys without baggage, which is understandable.
Okay, it's just a question, I didn't comment about your mother, kid or your hamster. If you already replied to a similar post, then don't reply.
Update, he's been suspended by the Broncos

Nope.
The fool has acted like a child, in front of not only his teammates but the media and public. You would have to be desperate for a WR to sign him, because truthfully he isn't that great of one and the fact that he could act like he did to get put off his team shows apparently he didn't care about his teammates enough to try or he is beyond the realm of stupidity.
His best bet is if Jay Cutler is really in grained with the Chicago management that they would pick him up after his eventual release on just his word that he will act right. Because, I doubt any coach or GM with no real connection to him will be willing to gamble that he won't just be a ineffectual dumbass if they were to try to land him.
Also, we have one of the strongest WR corps in the NFL, right now we are just trying to figure out if we should get a new number 5 or not.

Jerry Jones is probably working a deal as we speak.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The Cowboys only have TE Jason Whitten for any kind of receiver. Roy Williams, please, the guy is a 3 at best.

He is a solid #2 but not a #1 but your smoking if you think he is a #3 WR not even Jerry Jones is that dumb

Well the way I see it, he hasn't done much. Being in Detroit or not, hell even Barry Sanders made a name for himself there. And Barry did it ALL By Himself, 20 yards backwards for 10 forward. Roy, different story.

CBS sports has him #16 in fantasy rankings theorhetical he would have to be ranked 63 to be considered a number 3 actually he is ranked like a number 1

Roy Williams won't be on my fantasy team. CBS Sports also has much better receivers ranked lower than Williams. I'll have to let his play do the talking and if he breaks out, I'll be the first to say wow, he is good. Until then...

I'll be the first to say Roy Williams is a great reciever.
And I'll be teh first to say Brandon Marshall is a great reciever.
But would i want either of them considering our recieving corps?
No. There is no need here for a WR.
Anyone who says they are #3 recievers are not very knowledgeable and anyone who says they are #2 recievers i can let go as that may be a matter of opinion if they are #1 or #2 but in my mind there is no doubt that they are both #1 recievers that any team would be happy to have...but us and Arizona and the Patriots.
Let's just hope the Colts don't work a deal for Marshall.

No. Marshall with his display of immature actions is going to be playing himself out a job in the Nfl. I dislike Terrell Owens and rather have him than Marshall.
Houston does not need him.
Hey guys if you think about it this is actually a good idea. I mean drop alot of money on a reciever for a team who had the #3 offense and totally ignore the almost bottom of the barrel defense.

Considering I have heard Roy's be questioned on two different possible minor injuries this preseason. He showed nothing last year for both of his teams and frankly, the one Cowboys preseason game I saw, didn't show himself to be much of a deep threat.
I'd probably would have took Donnie Avery before R. Williams and I support the Cowboys in most things.

Roy Williams
2004-11 game starts-817 yards
2005-12 starts-687 yards
2006-16 starts-1310 yards
2007-12 starts-838 yards
2008- 4 starts w lions-232 yards-traded to Dallas and tried to learn new system mid stream.
There are not very many recievers with those kind of numbers. Not a #2 reciever in my opinion. All he needs is a QB and he will again shine.

THANK YOU, Someone knows some football. I didn't see anything from Williams either and that was with T.O., Witten & Barber to take the focus off of him. He may have had a ton of yards, but he is no Game Breaker...by any means. Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, those are Game Breakers, Solid No 1's.

The guy switched teams in the middle of the season. Sure go by his stats after moving to dallas last year with TO, and Romos favorite target Witten and see how many time he was even thrown to.
3652 yards in first 4 years -51 games started (72 yards a game)
Lets compare that to your other recievers in their first 4 years.
2196 for steve smith-26 games started(84 yards a game)
3953 for andre-61 games started(64 yards a game)
4544- for Larry-60 games started(75 yards a game)
Roys stats are right up there with the guys you listed. So why isn't he a #1 reciever? Because he was on the lions. Thats why. You don't know what you are talking about. Roy Williams is a great reciever whether you believe it or not.And Steves stats are a bit jaded because he only started 1 game his first year although he played all 16 games and had around 250 yards so with me averaging it out he did not have 250 yards in one game like how i did the math here. His yards per game if i projected them out would probably be around 75 like all the other guys and andres is low because of David Carr not being able to throw a pass farther than 10 yards. You project out a full 16 games for Roy and he would have had 1000 yards recieving every year except maybe the sophmore slump year where he would have had 950+.
To me a guy who averages 1000 yards recieving in their first four years is a proven number 1 reciever.
And in case the guy who "knows football" is interested Avery started 12 games-674 yards-1 TD-(56 yards a game) One year wonder? Who knows but he isn't ont he same level as Williams yet.

I personally don't think you should call a guy that has only had one season where he played 16 games as the sure fire #1 receiver he is supposed to be for the Cowboys. I'm not saying he is complete crap, but the dude is over hyped, doesn't seem to motivated and possibly frail given his injury history.
Sure, you can play him as number 1 but other then one season, despite being a first rounder, he has proven to be elite in any regards. From what I've seen of the Cowboys preseason work (heavy usage of running backs and tight ends), they know this as well. Once again, he isn't crap but he isn't the sort of guy I'd expect to be a #1 or lead a strong receiver corp.

You may be right and he may not pan out in Dallas. I just wanted to pointout that he has show the potential to be as good as the top recievers. And you can't blame him for getting injured, thats part of the game. Other than Fitzgerald , most recievers get dinged up along their career. I just wanted to argue that he is in no way a #3 reciever. I also want to go on record as saying he is good. I hope he has a great year. He is from Texas and at least now he can play for his home state, even if it is the wrong texas team.
And from everything ii read about him he is a very hard worker who is self motivated and not a distraction, even when they Drafted Johnson and continued to throw to him in triple coverage when Roy was wide open.
Our receivers are pretty much set and better than most teams.

WHAT!?!?! You are not a true fan if you actually watch the game when the defense takes the field.
-True fans watch the offense and clap sometimes when we make a play!
-True fans will do everything they can to watch an entire offensive drive between texts and e-mails!
-True fans attend Texans games for business networking oppertunities!
-True fans know that after we score the other team will send their offense on the field and that is when you take bathroom breaks or run to the beer stand!
-True fans know that football was founded on one truth alone... offense is the only reason to watch football!
You are not a true texans fan if you think we should waste any time or money on the defensive side of the ball! ;)

the questions to bear in mind are the issues that concern most with Marshall. Could he co-exhist knowing Andre is the man? NO! Can he roform his attitude and stay out of trouble? Did no one pay attention to Pacman in Dallas? NO! Can he keep from doing idiotically stupid off the field acts that get him injured? And if you watch some of the plays Roy Williams has made in his time in this league, you will see that there is #1 potential there! He just needs to be properly motivated and utilized in the right scheme. His stats will look very poor if none of Dallas's younger guys can step up and draw attention from him. He will struggle if he has to face double teams all year long.
