I decided to go through the team's roster page in anticipation of some updated player photos. I was excited to see Shaub in a Texans uni as well as Ahman Green. Maniely I was trying to get a feel for what our team is going to look like in 2007. While doing so, I noticed a few things...
The good...
Jacoby Jones and Amobi Okoye look really good as Texans. Both seem eager and willing to be successful in this league, and I'm encouraged by some of the action shots. On Ahman Green's page, the first picture has Shaub handing off to Green with Leach leading the way. Imagining them doing that in a regular season game gives me chills.
The bad...
Travis Johnson still looks out of shape and a tub-o-waste. Maybe Okoye can light a fire in him, but he seems to be content as a backup for the Texans. Clicking on Amobi's page I see a slim, strong and quick #91 in the first picture. I also see an out of shape #99.
No picture updates of Brandon Frye, Jordan Black, Enoka Lucas or Kasey Studdard.
Thoughts on TJ? Personally, I'm hoping he's transitioning from DT to NT, because a gut like that generally slows a guy down. Think we can get a 4th for him?

I think I finally figured out why Zabransky came to the Texans. This is the one team in the NFL that he could be on and NOT be the last guy on the roster.
With that said, I'd never really looked at Zgonina before. There's a picture of him and Okoye doing some drills and I was surprised at how big Zgonina's legs are. He might be old, but the man has some freakin thighs on him. I'd love to hear his squat and DL numbers.

Kinda related, there's a hockey player currently on the Calgary Flames named Andrei Zyuzin. Tell me how anyone has a last name that would come after that.

I remember a Rams game awhile back where John Madden talked about Zgonina's "cankles" for like 2 or 3 minutes straight. It was hilarious, he wasn't even paying attention to the game.
"Look how huge the part of his leg is where his calf meets his ankle. Those are the biggest cankles i've ever seen!!!"

Is it wrong that the first thought in my mind after reading this post is that John Madden should know all about cankles?

I won't say who said it, but it was mentioned to me by a member of the staff that Travis Johnson is the least likely guy to (1) show up in the weight room, or (2) follow instructions when he gets there. He's considered a pain in the *** who doesn't put out the kind of effort he's supposed to.
I can understand not being good. If you're giving 100% and you just aren't the player people thought you were, fine, but if you are consistently dogging it, I have no use for you whatsoever.
I doubt he's around long.

When Zgonina was first brought in he was considered to be a Seth Payne type person. It was said his work ethic is next to none. I'll see if I can dig up the article.
As far as TJ, Kubiak said he and Maddox were going to be the inside DTs. So, it might be a good thing he's being a sloth. Although being fat with no muscle to make a push on the Dline=thrown around like a rag doll.

TJ has never been an effort player on this team and I honestly think he will be a TC cut this year. Kubes & Co are creating a different team and the last thing they will want is a lazy fat guy making the team just because he's a #1 pick. Honestly I think it would send a very wrong message to his teamates [ie that its ok to be lazy, take plays off and give half effort to make the team] IMO before long you wont see most of the original team still here outside of Andre and D-rob

Kind of like Phillip Finch from the movie Wildcats with Goldie Hawn.
