So going into this season the so called experts had locked in the division winners. They were ready to coronate, the patriots kings of the AFC east, ready to hand the Steelers the AFC north crown, let the Titans keep the South, and declare the Chargers winners by default. But in just two weeks we've seen the conference go through huge changes and surprises.
Here's what I've noticed:
In the AFC west, I admit I thought the chargers had this won from day one, but after seeing the raiders play them and basically have the game stolen from them. I think the raiders might be back and give the chargers a run for their money.
In the AFC north Im gonna maintain that it is still a two horse race between Baltimore and Pittsburgh, I think this race is closer than it was last year, and would not be surprised to see either team win the division.
In the AFC east, everyone was prepared to prematurely crown the patriots the winners, but theres a new guy in town and his name is Rex Ryan. We beat the pats down today, and made Tom Brady look like the rookie, not Sanchez. Its gonna be close, but I am obviously pulling for the Jets. I think the dolphins schedule is too hard for them to maintain a winning record, I think they will go 8-8 at the most.
I think the AFC south is the most interesting. I am discounting the jaguars already, I don't see them as a legitimate threat to anyone. and if my Jets beat the Titans next week, their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. a thread with a high probability of breaking lol.
Its between the Colts and Texans in my view. The Texans have the slightly easier schedule by avoiding baltimore. And if you look at all the remaining texan games before the bye, I would not be surprised to see them go 4-3,5-2, 6-1, i lean towards 5-2.
But if you look at the Colts schedule the way it is constructed its harder than the texans. They play miami on monday, they are going to win I think. But they have a short week and have to fly all the way to the west coast to play the cardinals. I can see them dropping this game, bob sanders might be out, which is good news for warner and fitzy. I can definately see the colts faltering in the 2nd half of the season. they have a brutal 4 game stretch starting in November, they have the patriots, ravens, texans, and titans, all in a row.
I think its interesting to see how the AFC divisional races will play out this year. thoughts?
