I agree and thought that he was going to be back for this game since that is what was reported early in the week by J. Reeves and Kubiak. I think that will solve a lot of our 3rd and long woes. Does anybody know if he had a set back late in the week or sometime before the game??

I think they were being precautious as he was at practice before the Jets game, so we are now two+ weeks since he has been practicing. Getting Reeves back on D and Walter back on O will help significantly.

Totally forgot about him. He was arguably our top corner last year, so getting him back would definitely be a bolster.

He was projected to be back this week, and he started practicing with the team about a week and a half ago. All I can assume is that it became a game time decision and Kubiak felt that it would be better to hold him out for one more game rather than risk possibly causing him a setback. With the way Bennett played yesterday there is little doubt that Reeves will come back into the line-up as the #2 corner, but I do wonder if Bennett may risk having the Nickle spot given to one of the rookies. I like McCain and personally wouldnt mind seeing him there instead of Fred.

I agree. I would def sit bennett and continue to play McCain. With Busing and Wilson as our safties, Reeves and Robinson at CB I think our defense will look much better and have a great chace to create some turnovers.

Heyyyyyy! ease up on my homeboy fred. Fred had a rough game yesterday but was ok when he settled down. I personally see Fred as a safety in the future.

He definitely has ok size to be a safety and his arms are each about 4 feet long, lol.

The problem I have with him is that he doesn't look at the ball enough.
Hopefully our new secondary coach helped him out some this season. It'll be interesting to see his progress.

That's what the no more back peddling was to fix. to give the CB a chance to run with the reciever and watch their eyes and react the same time the do.
word from TC was that he was making improvements on that technique with David Gibbs and company working on him looking for the ball.
They sat him out Sunday b/c he was still getting his game wind. I'm sure he'll play against the Jags, I just don't see him starting this week. That is, until Fred gets scorched, then Jacques will get the rest of the reps.

Fred would be a worse Safety than a CB, cuz of the simple fact he doesn't know how to tackle. Fred never goes low to tackle, he always try to tackle too high. If Fred is our last-line of defense, then we are def. in trouble!!!

Sorry but I don't think Fred can play safety. He is capable with his ball skills but he can't make open field tackles. That is something that is paramount for a safety.

I wouldn't say he was Petey bad but there were plays where he got caught either being burnt or baited into running out of a play. Honestly, compared to last week, I saw improvement, so I won't be calling for him to be replaced by one of the rookies or a less then 100% Reeves at starting position.
Although I do wonder what happened between the end of his rookie season and last season that caused his performance to tape off.
