I saw this interesting article on Yahoo and thought it merited discussion.

Everyone knows Jacksonville is a small market and that it has to compete with two other professional teams and myriad college programs in its home state. I see this column as a not so subtle complaint about LA not having a team more than a straight up analysis of the problems a franchise like Jacksonville is dealing with.
A further point. Let's speculate that in a few years time the ownership of the Jags changes hands and decides to uproot the team. Where should they go? The obvious place is LA. The NFL is still coveting that massive media market where it has failed so many times to put down roots. It would require a reorganization of the divisions unless they decided to keep the team in the AFC South utilizing the delightful fiction that says the Cowboys are an NFC East team. Still, I can not see why the NFL would seriously consider LA again after all the failures associated with franchises in that city. We all know that they can not resist putting a team there at some point. Yet I think they will once again realize that the Mexican national soccer team in a bigger draw in LA than any NFL franchise they implant there.
All just food for thought.

San Antonio would be die hard faithful and would love a team. It would be an interesting interstate rival as well. I would have to choose who to be faithful to... Texans of course.

I am not convinced the SA economy could fully support an NFL team, LA has about 8 times the population so that would be the most likely choice

The unfortunate truth in this situation is that San Antonio didn't even show the Saints any love when they were displaced by Katrina. I live in Buda (south of Austin), and work in New Braunfels (north of San Antonio) and have yet to find more than a handful of people who are football fans, that aren't die-hard Cowboys fans. It's a shame, really.
On the other hand, why does Los Angeles need yet another pro team? They were so butt hurt about the Dodgers doing poorly for a while, that they had to go out and petition to change the name of the Angels to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, which is the second most retarded thing I have ever seen.

I thought about SA, but I am sure that Jones would put that idea down pretty quickly. West Texas is Cowboy country through and through. Plus SA is just a backwater.
I would just hate to see LA get another team.

I think if San Antonio can support the Spurs and even the SA Stars (WNBA), they should be able to support their own NFL football team. At least if said team managed to be really good, really quickly.
Honestly other then San Antonio and LA, the only other place I could see a team being moved to would be Las Vegas. Granted I know the entire area is shady at every level but no other city would seem to be big enough or have potential growth.

I know for sure the league and owner is considering Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
I think that would be a intresting. If they go there they can prolly stay in the AFC south.
I would like them to move and change there names.
I always like new teams and uniforms. But you always have to keep the classics.
Maybe we can have two houston teams like new york.
Houston texans and the Houston oliers aka jaguars HAHA lol
Im wishful thinking, just joking. Hope I didnt hit a nerve with anyone.

The biggest concern would be how many teams a state can support. If Florida, NY, and California can support three NFL teams I see no real reason why Texas could not.
Still, it is more likely that SA gets a team from the pitiful abortion that is the UFL.

Portland, Oregon is a larger TV market than either San Antonio or Las Vegas, but from what I understand Portland offers a similar problem as San Antonio in that a large portion of the football fans in that area are loyal Seahawks fans.
Los Angeles probably is the NFL's best available location for re-location--that is, outside of Toronto, maybe.
Move 'em to Salt Lake City, Utah, that place/region is dying for a pro football team, pro team of any kind.
The Salt Lake City Salt Lickers?
LOL. Or you could go the Mormon route and call them the Salt Lake City Pews.

Portland, I hear is mainly basketball country, although you are right, they would be a more substantial market then San Antonio.
Chicago will more likely get a second team way before H town does.
No way is Chicago (Da Bears country) more likely to get another team then Houston. Now the Boston area and even New York, they might get second or third teams, but Chi-town, like Green Bay, Dallas and Detroit are too faithful to their team's history for the area to be able to support a brand new expansion team.

They were very surprised at the turn out for the two games played there, particularly the preseason game of the Texans vs the Cowboys which drew over 105,000 fans to the game.
Of which 104,997 were Cowboys fans... Which leads me back to my point about San Antonio...

Yeah the true west Texas fans won't change. They are the biggest football fans in the world (mostly high school), but they are mostly T-shirt fans when it comes to college and pro. Several years ago when TAMU was ruling the SWC they were all Aggie fans. Now that Texas it ontop they are all Longhorn fans, but some are starting to cheer for the Red Raiders. The key to getting their backing in college or pro is to just win.
