**Battle Red Day: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans Official Game Thread**

Texans (1-1) look to go to 2-0 in the AFC South for only the 2nd time in franchise history as they take on yet another division rival in the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2).

Bill Macatee and Steve Beuerlein will call the game for CBS and kickoff will be at Noon Central time. Texans will don the popular "battle red" while the Jaguars will sport their road unis, white jersey with black pants.

Houston is coming off an impressive offensive showing in a 34-31 win over the much hated Titans. Jacksonville, who finished at 5-11, are coming off a dismal showing in their home opener, losing to the defending NFC Champion Cardinals, 31-17.

Keys to the game:

Texans run Defense vs. Jaguars run Offense.

MJD has been great so far this year, averaging over five yards a carry. Look for the Jags to pound the rock early and often to try to open up things for a mediocre passing game. Texans were gashed last week @ TEN for over 200 yards rushing, mostly involving big gains.



Jaguars pass defense vs. Texans Pass offense

Jacksonville had issues last week vs. ARI, as Kurt Warner had an easy time, with only 2 incompletions (24-26). Jacksonville also allowed some big plays vs. the Colts, although they only allowed 14 points. The key for them is pressure. They can't let Schaub relax in the pocket and have ample time to throw. Houston is coming off an absolutely dominating performance in the air last week, as Schaub torched the Titans for over 350 yards passing and 4 touchdowns.


Jaguars run Defense vs. Texans Run offense
Both of these sides of the ball have been below average to start the year. The Texans have not been able to run well so far this season and have had no where to go on most of their run plays. Look for the Texans to try and pound the rock vs a team they know very well. Jacksonville did an ok job vs. the run in week 1. Week 2 was a different story as Tim Hightower had some big runs, opening up a Cardinals passing game that you can not let have an easy go at it week to week.

Texans pass defense vs. Jaguars pass offense

The Jags will defintely need to run the ball well to be able to opening up the passing game. With a passing game ranked 25th, the run game will be the reason why David Garrard will have an easy go at passing, especially down the field using play fakes. The Texans, outside of a busted coverage that allowed an easy 69 yard TD last week, only allowed 147 yards passing.

These guys might be 0-2 but their first two games were tough. Peyton and Warner are serious about what they are doing. No shame loosing to those guys. If we do not give this team the respect they deserve and walk in there expecting an easy win we will get our asses handed to us. We need to treat every team like we treated the Titians. Go in expecting a fight and ready to rumble for real.

I still love the Titians/Oilers. Fisher is my favorite coach. I would like to see him take more chances down the field and blitzing, but he is great and the only time I root against Titian is when they are playing the Texans.

Actually, since I am a cornerback and love hard hitting blitzing defenses , Bill Cower's defense scheme is my favorite defense. Still can not over come the hatred for Raven's Ray Lewis. I was living in Tennessee for awhile and those guys F*k'd playoffs for Titians several times. Even though I want to hate Pittsburgh, their defense is great and the receiver, Ward, man he brings every play and raises the level of everyone on the offense. I think we have pretty good line backers and ok cornerbacks, but they need to bring it every play, they get burned by to many receivers. Of course with the right safety we could minimize the damage cause by cornerbacks getting burned.

Jags = trade licks.
Both teams running the ball down the other teams throats and hope to catch the defense off guard with pass. I bet garrard drops at least one long bomb for a td.
Surely a corner back blowing coverage or getting smoked. Both just as embarrassing.

Overall, our defense has been an improvement from last year. We still need sacks, not a single sack a game. I want to hear Antonio Smith's name a lot during a game, but that has yet to happen. Mario has been doing good, why can't the other guy (Smith) get some real pressure on the QB. Cushing had a very nice stop on the 2 yard line or so last week. Another thing we need to see is some interceptions. Our guys give too much of a cushion to WRs. Hit 'em at the line and disrupt the timing, please.

And I think the only guy to shut down Andre Johnson is the guy not throwing the ball his way.

I can't believe how angry this D makes me. They consistenly give up 3rd down conversions, being particularly bad on 3rd and long. Eventually, those 3rd down conversions lead to big, huge, giant plays for the other team.

Frustrating as hell.

Every game will be a nail biter or they'll get slaughtered with this D. Every team we play will be in the game till the very end.

Could we be in for another knock-down, drag-out game? That sure was fun last week, but considering how nail-biting last night's UH/Texas Tech game was I don't think I can handle another ending like that!
Shaping up to be a good game so far, so I can't complain....Still frustrating with some of the bone-head plays on the D side, but our offense is keeping us in it. Should be an interesting 2nd half...
