View Full Version : Who is our biggest rival and why?

Rank our rivals and tell us why you think that way.

My Rankings:

1. Dallas - You either love'em or you hate'em. I don't care if the Texans lost every game from now on, as long as they win against the Cowboys when we play them. 19-10 baby!

2. Titans - For obvious reasons... Not going into detail here but if the entire team woke up dead tomorrow it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit.

3. Colts - Division Rivals and because of their success, especially against us.

4. Jags - Division Rivals and designated Battle Red Victims.

after that I really don't have any animosity towards any other teams, or really view them as a rivalry.

Could not agree with your more Commish... I have them ranked the same...

I'd reverse 1 and 2, although it's so close it might be more like 1a and 1b...

But yeah, for the reasons you stated more or less.

Their not much of a rivalry, but I want our guys to beat "Da S$$T out of the Seahawks. They put a whopping on us in our 1st ever meeting & I've been waiting for the re-match this year. As for rivalry, I'll say Tenn. for obvious reason-BUD ADAMS:mad:

yeah, we dont LIKE the cowboys or colts jags, but we HATE the titans, and after this past game, this is our ENEMY!. look at all the fights on the field, then steven tulluck and Zac Diles exchanged verbal jabs on twitter after the game, titans no doubt

At first it was an ownership, them owning us. Now, it's a rivalry. We have equal, if not better, talent. I think we have better talent. A rivalry at last. Of course, they were our team at one time, that's why. TENNESSEE

I'd have to say Jacksonville Jaguars. They are one of the few teams who we've been competitive against in our earliest years...while they were a better than average team.

Tennessee is second on my list. Ex Houston Oilers, division rivals, and a team I love to hate.

Pittsburgh isn't exactly the Texan's biggest rival, but they've been a major rival and thorn in the side of Houston football.

Dallas - a rival only bc they share the state with us, and they are by far the team I LOVE to HATE. I used to hate them completely...now I"m indifferent. If Dallas was playing in the SuperBowl (assuming Houston wasn't involved), I guess I would cheer for them as a Texas team.

I guess we all have diff defintions of rivalies, to me a rivalry game is more so a slugfest and overall hatred vs the other team rather than the overall record of us vs this or that team. I said titans cause when we play them there are so many individual matchups/fights on both sides of the ball, they clearly dont like each other

And Cortland probably put a hit out on AJ by now considering the past 2 games against him LOL

We don't play the Cowboys often enough for them to be a rival. Given that the Titans are in our division, and they moved away from Houston, they are our natural rivals.

The teams that have kept us out of the playoffs are Colts Titans. Those should be the onlyteams that we need to have a dire determination to beat. I don't even see Dallas at all as a rival. We don't even play them. or rarely.

If you had said teams i hate..that would change up my order.

Ive always hated pittsburg and when they stole our superbowl i have always hated them, period! lol
Dallas i hate sometimes but i secretly still enjoy watching them win. I'd rather a team from Texas get in the superbowl than giants eagles division teams. So although i may not love Dallas..i don't hate them like some people. They have sucked for a long time but i can see them doing better as soon as they dump that guy who thinks he is a head coach.

When the oiler left i began rooting for Breuner and the Jags so when we got in the same division as the Texans i have never hated the Jags. As long as we keep owning them i can still enjoy watching a good smash mouth Jags game although i really enjoyed Breuner throwing the long ball to the 2 recievers he had back then. They were a good show back then.

Since the Vick ordeal i hate the eagles.
I've always liked the 49ers. Wish they would get their team together.
When i was a kid i loved the dolphins.

So thats about it. The rest of the teams i am pretty indifferent about. I do feel sorry or empathy for the Lions, but thats not to say i don't enjoy poking them with jokes while they are sucking.:D

I've also not liked Washington because of them beating Dallas int he superbowl. Okay i think thats it.

EDIT: i voted Colts.

I have to go with Tennessee because of the way Bud Adams screwed the Houston fans over and over. Tennessee is the pick. I hate them every bit as much as the Cowboys.

Titans are a thorn in the side. Tortured, cruel part of our past. Ugly step children. We are forever disgustingly associated with THEM. I couldn't stand rooting for them in the Superbowl after the Oilers left. I was without a team and they were the closest to the Oilers I could get. I'm ashamed to admit it. I apologize for any violation this may have resulted in.

Beating them is fun. They are easy to want to beat. Natural rivalry.

There's an extra bit of pleasure when the defeated are the titans. Great games.

I also agree with the steelers as an honorable mention. What a great rivalry Houston had with them. I like it when the steelers suck too.

When I think rivals, I think of what team I would be the most excited for us to beat. Based on that:

#1 The Tacks
Bud Adams, trash talkers, division rivals, and I suspect from now on very emotional games.

#2 Colts
Still the guys to beat in the division

#3 Dallas
Proof of who is the best in Texas

#4 Jags
Divisional rival

$5 Vikings
Cheap shot artists that caused us un-necessary injuries with Schaub and Wilson

It's impossible for this to happen. Maybe you were thinking about a playoff game?

Could that even happen in Madden?

you're right it was the 1983 playoff final game that sent the skins to the sb. That game was the beginning of my hatred for the skins. I think they won like 30 to 14 or something. Riggins was unstoppable and the redskins dominated Dallas the whole game. Anyone who hates Dallas should try to go watch that game...you'll love it!

I say the Jags, something about them just irks me. Plus we have success against them. Naturally it should be the titans, and eventually, we will be at the level where we truly are rivals, but for now, its the Jaguars. Kind of sucks since they going to be building the L.A. stadium in my backyard, and most likely the Jags will fill it.

At least you could see the Texans once a year.
