Ok folks, here's my take on the Texans after 5 games...

1. Coaching---The number one problem. Kubiak and the staff are nice guys, we all like them personally, but, this is a young NFL franchise, and that laid-back, nice guy style, "player's coach" (if you will) does not suit the personnel on this team. Kubiak would be great with a team like Indianapolis, where the veteran leadership on the field don't need that coaching edge I'm speaking of. We have talent. Those players are BEGGING for leadership from the sidelines. It shows in the beginning of games, when the Texans always come out flat. I can tell that Kubiak does nothing to "fire up the troops" like a Ditka or Cowher would do. They trot onto the field like gentlemen playing a gentleman's game. They only seem to start playing after someone smacks them in the mouth. THIS IS THE NFL!!! THIS IS PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL!!! GO OUT AND SMACK SOMEBODY RIGHT OUTTA THE GATE!!! WHO CARES IF WE TAKE A 15 YARDER EARLY IF IT CAN FIRE UP THE TEAM AND THE CROWD!!! ON THE FIRST PLAY OF THE GAME ON OFFENSE, SCREW GIVING IT TO SLATON FOR 2-3 YARDS...GO DOWN THE FIELD TO ANDRE ON 1ST AND TEN!!! CHANGE THE CULTURE!!! QUIT BEING FINESSE!!! SMACK SOMEBODY!!! IM GETTING FIRED UP JUST TYPING THIS!!!

2. Running Game---Steve Slaton is a good back, and I think the Texans should loosen teams up early with the short passing game (screens and flats to Slaton to loosen up the defense. Chris Brown is simply bench fodder. The guy is not physiologically built for the short run game/goalline carries. He runs upright and is so top heavy. The short run game requires a different body type---short, low center of gravity, able to get down low and drive with thick thighs and legs---it's so hard to watch CB run, especially how the Texans employ him, knowing that he WILL NOT succeed in the long run. Add in his tendency to drop the ball and, well, the writing is on the wall. I'd rather see Moats in goalline.

3. Quarterback---We are lucky to have Matt Schaub. You put him on another team like Baltimore or the Giants and he would be an absolute stud. Yes, he makes some bad decisions, and generally lacks that fiery Brett Favre leadership, but they guy can get the ball to Andre and OD with regularity (ie 3 300 yard games already) No problem here.

4. WR/TE---We are set. Would like to see Jacoby Jones make that leap to a consistent, contributing 2nd receiver and the Texans would be a top 5 offensive unit (they may be already). He has the talent.

5. Defense---We are set on the line and LB's...secondary needs more draft picks, but we could get by this season. I believe the defense sets the tone early in the game. Just straight VIOLENCE early on. Again, coaching. These guys need to be SKY FREAKIN' HIGH coming outta that tunnel, foaming at the mouth, ready to knock somebody OUT. Don't see it, week in and week out. Other teams set the tone and dictate while the Texans just play out the game.

Please. please Kubiak, if you read these messages, get these boys ready to play on Sundays BEFORE the game starts. Freaking tell them that they are playing for their livelihoods for crying out loud!

I love my Texans and am tired of watching this talent being wasted----we should be 4-1 right now with the game of the week coming up in Cincinnati dammit!

HIT SOMEBODY IN THE MOUTH!!!
