Did anyone notice except me the move that Mario made in the 4th quarter with 11:27 remaining. He actually juked the offensive tackle outside then made an inside rip move back in to force Kurt Warner to throw into the dirt. That was the first time in forever that I saw Mario do this. 10 out of 10 times, Mario rushes the outside shoulder or sometimes bullrushes the tackle. I hope that he adds the juke move and incorporate an inside or outside spin move because I think opposing lineman have figured out Mario's game. Thanks for your comments.

I think that if we had any semblance of an average secondary mario would average 18+ sacks a year.

yeah it's hard to get sacks when receivers are open right off the bat.

I do think O-Linemen have learned some of Mario's game. His quick attack to the outside and trying to snag the QB with his long arms is not working very well any more. Mario is now going to have to learn more technique and not just depend on his freakish ability. I fully expected him to have 5 or more sacks by now. He's not having too good of a season.
last game he had a banged up shoulder the fake that is reffered to is commonly used to split a double team. Mario can add that the rip, swim club, and have a complete arsenal. He can Bull or speed rush, he is thge complete package in my opinion!

No doubt! Mario is a beast, and I love to watch him play. He would have more sacks if our secondary was doing a better job and if Antonio Smith would wake up and find his pulse on the opposite side.
Not to mention Okoye and Robinson and Cody doing "SOMETHING"....ANYTHING on the D-Line.
Mario can't do it all by himself.
read up on Houston Texans.com okoye is improving steadily every week as he gets more comfortable in what Bush and Kollar are asking of him. Cody is getting better after returning from injury, i still wouldnt shy from either adding bulk to Barwin in the offseason and starting him full time at end with Smith sliding inside and the musical chairs at nt can stop.

I like Barwin a lot, but he does have to bulk up some. However, his game is built on speed so I'm not sure how that would affect him.
I've seen nothing out of Cody. Okoye has flashed some, but he needs to do a whole lot more than that! He's had time to make his adjustments. He needs to put up or move on.
I love Bulman!
barwin actually dropped weight to be considered an olb prospect with so many teams switching to the 3-4. he can play with some more bulk. i think Bulman should start at nt. I see him giving more push than anybody currently in the nt rotation. okoye is getting better every week as is the entire defense, with our rotation back in order in the secondary we could start to gel and see better play from that unit.

Bulman is to light to play NT he is about 275 -280. What we need is Frank Okam listed at 338 to step up and contribute. Seems like every team we face has a guy that's 360ish and manhandle our guys at the LOS.
I dont know if Mario has contain responsibilities but he defiantly needs to take that inside move more often

Id like to see Mario tie up another linemen sometimes to cause others to free up. just straight stunt and collapse

I think Mario holds some of his moves back... It seems to me that he always brings out a fresh move late in the game when we need him the most...

I been thinking the same thing for a while now. He's going to have to do something else if he's going to be a force in this game.

Actually I think the perfomance of the interior line prevents him from fully using his arsenal. He's done the inside moves a few times, but he's met with a DT and whoever's blocking him at times. Our DT's need to get push and collapse the pocket in the middle to prevent the QB from stepping up. Same thing on some stunts. I've seen a few occasions where Mario has to go all the way to the other side of the line before he can move towards the QB. I think as the interior line improves so will Mario's performance. Also the secondary has to do a better job. I think now that our secondary's starters are set we should see an improvement.

Antonio Smith has been a disappointment
Is it just me or does Antonio Smith talk way too much trash on the field too? I always see him talking it up against the other team when he hasn't even made a play yet. Yea he will get pressure every once in a while, but for the most part he is all bark and no bite.

NT?? We don't have nose tackle, we do not run a 3-4..... just call them defensive tackles around the fellas and if you like, forget, have a brain fart you can call them nose tackles around the wife, she won't have a clue nor care. :D
But please get it right or go make these posts on the Astro's board, they are looking for a pulse... any pulse... ok? :D

Why do you say AS has been a disappointment? He is in the same boat as Mario, it's not like the defensive backfield is any better on his side.....

In our scheme Amobi plays the under tackle and the opposite dt position is the nose tackle, though they no longer have to line up directly over the center with the new agressive gap assignments. Shifting and pressuring gaps, we have seen limited production from the boys in the middle, but consider this, Mario's quickness often brings him as the first to get near the fotball, Demeco's instincts as well as the developing Cushing, finds them around the football the most. It isnt because they arent performing, its because these talented players i have mentioned have a knack for finding the ball.

I agree in that our DTs need more push, although honestly, other then Okoye, Zgonnia and occasionally Bullman and Smith, when they play DT, I don't think we've gotten even better then average production from the guys that play there.
Antonio Smith has been a disappointment
I keep on having to say this but are you people actually WATCHING Smith on the field? The guy is constantly bringing pressure along with Mario when he does play DE, although you would notice that he often does play the DT position when they bring Barwin in and does a fine job there as well. He doesn't always gets sacks but as far as providing pressure goes, he is obviously doing his job.
