Ok, I am simply bored at work... and was looking into prospects for next years draft. Here is an early mock for next year...three rounds of prediction 9 months early no less. How much do draft mockers make because I could easily have done better than this guy.

# 9 pick. Houston Texans: Early Doucet, WR, LSU
The price of not drafting Reggie Bush - other than Andre Johnson, the Texans don't have a single potent weapon on the offense. Making matters worse, Kevin Walter is slated as the No. 2 receiver. Houston will have to target Early Doucet, Mario Manningham or Steve Slaton (by trading up).
Jacoby Jones anyone?
# 73 pick. Houston Texans: Quintin Demps, FS, UTEP
Why didn't the Texans upgrade their secondary this offseason?
Why does everyone think that you can turn a 2-14 team around in one year?? Dont know much about this guy.... but we will have to upgrade the S posish either free agency or draft.
Some other mocks:

I personally think S, CB, OL, and RB will be priorities after this season.

People might disagree with me here but manningham is not imo 1st round talent... i mean all i've seen him do is streaks and posts. i have only seen him play 4 times. JMO

i like the demps pick, but i dont think he'll be there at 73.
i think we should take Michael Oher if he declares. can play both OT and OG. spencer's health is a concern, and if he's done, then Oher can play OT. if Spencer comes back healthy, Oher can play OG and we can move Weary to C, his natural position.
1. Michael Oher OL
3. Quintin Demps FS
4. Tavares Gooden LB
5. Ernest Wheelwright WR
Gooden was injured a few years ago and didn't start for Miami, but he has the size (6'2 238lbs) and speed (4.5-4.55) to play the WLB spot. He had 83 tackles and 10 for loss in 2004 before he got injured in 2005, and 41 tackles and 5 for loss in limited playing time.
Ernest Wheelwright is a big WR for Minny. 6'5 215lbs and runs in the 4.55-4.6 range. Gives us a big receiver for the redzone, where we really suck.

Top 5 Pick? I highly doubt we have a top 5 pick unless we trade up and I dont see that happening either.

Jake Long is wishful thinking and believe me, I'd be the first to buy his jersey, but OT's Sam Baker, Barry Richardson (most likely since I'm guessing we'll be picking from 15-18) and Tony Hills (from UT) will be available. This draft is OT heavy.
There's another tackle, Gosder Cherilus, from BC but he's a RT and Winston pretty much has that job secured.

Always fun to loook at mock drafts...
I'm looking for us to be in the 10-20range and at an early look at our team/2008 prospects I'm leaning towards:
1. Steve Slaton- RB is a whole on our team with Taylor injured, Green/Dayne not being long term solutions, Gado will be a doctor some day, lundy/walker may get cut. Slaton seems like he would be a good fit for the Gulf Coast Offense, and a playmaker to play along with andre, owen and jacoby.
2. Kenny Phillips-FS is in need of major upgrade. That mock had him SS for the jags, is he a ball-hawker cuz thats what we desperately need. our CB #2 spot will not be good for a while. more competition but we need a FS to help Faggins/Bennett/Fletcher out.
3. Sam Baker- OL is getting better but we still need a stud. Winston has the right side. Pitts/Weary i like. hopefully studdard can develop into a decent G down the road, but our LT spot is still not there. ephraim will retire in the next few year esp. if he has to start an average of 14 games for 3 seasons in a row, imo...he's getting old. Baker would be a good fit for our line imo. We can't rely on Spencer, even if he comes back who's to say he's 100%, depth on the OL/Lt will be good, even if we have to spend a 1st-its worth it.
*I think Michael Oher stays his senior season so he won't be available. He's a stud and want him on our team. In my perfect scenario we take Slaton this year and then get our LT in Oher in the 2009 draft. ->our offense would near be complete and thats saying a lot.
Early look.Early dreams.

i like slaton, but in 2009, the RB class will be LOADED. plus, kubiak wont take a RB in the 1st round IMO. kenny phillips will be #1 on our board. he is a ballhawk that can support the run. think laron landry with reggie nelson ballskills.

kenny phillips is widely regarded as the best safety since sean taylor. size and speed to play both safety positions. hits like a ton of bricks and ballskills to rack up interceptions. the total package.
