This is based off of the fact that the Texans should receive a 3rd rd pick (Compensatory) for losing Dunta in FA.
I used NFL Draft Scout for a guide as to which rds each player should be picked.
Rd1 Joe Haden CB Fla. Best CB in draft, has the ability to become a shut down corner.
Rd2 Chad Jones S LSU 6'2 230 lbs hard hitting sure tackling, playmaking S this franchise has been looking for since its inception.
Rd3 Mike Johnson G Ala. Toughest best run blocking G in this draft, has great feet for pass pro.
Rd3 Adam Ulatoski OT Tex. Can come in and start at RT right away. I would move Winston to LG. Brown and winston side by side would cure the running game woes.
Rd4 Keiland Williams RB LSU Big fast RB currently splitting time with C.Scott. Has good hands,is a steal at this point in the draft.
Rd5 Dan Williams DT Tenn. Big run stuffing DT is battle tested in the SEC.
Rd5 Kyle McCarthy S N.Dame Heady playmaking SS, Will be a great ST guy at the very least.
Rd6 Brandon Brinkley CB Hou. Fast nickle CB who should be a good ST guy
Rd7 Jeff Byars C-G USC Undersized but has the frame to put on more weight. Byars was made to be a Center on a ZBS team
In FA I would re-sign
Pitts and sign Hampton to a 4 year contract with the money I saved by not resigning Dunta.
I believe if talent is equal I draft SEC players because the are the most ready to play early in the NFL.
Let the critiques begin.

I just think its way to early to talk about this. Lets bring this up again when the texans are sucking.

Steel B I am more than happy to play along. I like college ball and watch mostly with an interest of who will look good on Sundays. So if the draft were today here is how my Texans draft would stack up.
RD1. Eric Berry (Jr), SS, Tennessee (others Suh, Cody, McCoy)
RD2. Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
RD3. Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise St.
RD4. Ben Tate, RB, Auburn
RD4. Robert Johnson, FS, Utah
RD5. Zac Robinson, QB, Oklahoma St.
RD5. Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee

Looks great to me but we only have one 4th rd. pick in this years draft.
Dunta (compensatory pick) should be a 3rd rd pick. With that pick I hope they finish rebuilding the interior OL.
I believe Berry will be long gone when the Texans are on the clock.
At least I hope so.
How do you feel about Morgan Burnett?
I think he's Eric Berry lite.

I agree Eric Berry will be long gone by the time we pick and Morgan Burnett is a very close 2nd to Berry. If Dunta stays I'd pick Burnett in the 1st round and if Dunta leaves then pick Haden in the 1st and Burnett, Reshad Jones, Darrell Stuckey, or Nate Allen in the 2nd round. We should be in a good position next year to get some really good players and fill several holes in the secondary and O-line as long as Kubiak doesn't screw it up and pick some project player early in the draft like he always does.

I think we're making a mistake by not taking a WR on Day 1. Andre Johnson isn't getting any younger. If Demaryius Thomas slips into Rd 2, STEAL!

we are still neglecting the lack of pressure and the average run defense that we posess. If we get a steller nose tackle we can build off of that and our secondary will have an easier job. I think its a piece from a puzzle that will help our team be more effective than a Free safety. Eugene Wilson will hold up fine for another 2 years im hoping

That's why in my offseason plan I would sign Casey Hampton and in the 5th rd. I took a very underrated DT (Dan Williams)

Tell me more about Demaryius Thomas.
He plays for Georgia Tech. 6'3" 229 and runs a 4.5 40.
95.9 yards per game
24.9 yards per catch
He doesn't get a TON of receptions, because of GT's offense, obviously.

Thanks, I've seen him play and he could be a stud.
I've watched quite a bit of Morgan Burnett play.
Drafting Thomas mean Smithiak are not going to re-sign Walter.
I dont have a problem with this if the money that is saved is used to re-sign Ryans and Daniels.
