Without OWen guys like Kevin Walter and Jacoby jones are going to step up in a big way! I think we will be fine but need to change things up a bit.

Here's the report on NFL.com, in case it hasn't already been posted

I hope so, but he was a huge part of our offense. I'm not worried but we'll notice him missing, I'm sure.

I hope he comes back next year and picks up where he left off... he had a great season.

noooooo!

so Dreesen is the official starter now?

Possibly. Depends on what Casey can do this week in practice. Dressen's blocking might make him the go to guy for the time being though.

Dressen is a good blocker with average hands, Casey has above average hands not as good of a blocker, but both guys are multi demensional enough that we won't tip our hand as to pass or run. Dressen has had some big catches 3 first downs on 5 catches averaging a good 10+ yards per catch with a YAC of 17

Casey has the skill to make big plays in space, but will need to focus on his route running

I actually think Casey has had some practice blocking by running as a FB. Not the same as blocking off the line, but I think he will be ok in regards to blocking. he has some impressive gifts and I would have loved to have seen him on the field sooner. OD was just handling things so well that there was no reason to bring Casey in.

Agreed Casey can block but has primarily been a route runner.

I think we make up for the loss by being more creative with the TE/Wr sets. We have to have teams respecting the TE or the passing game will suffer. I have confidence in both guys, but I'd trade them both for OD back too.

You're a great player to watch and you seem like a very positive and supportive team-mate, we'll definitely miss your presence and production.
Good luck in the surgery and get well soon OD!

So how does everyone see this affecting his contract negotiations?

So how does everyone see this affecting his contract negotiations?

Ending up the same way it did as Dunta meaning no contract til he goes back out and proves himself AGAIN. Not sure if Owen takes the same approach(sitting out and missing TC and preason, etc) but it has to hurt him negotiation wise. That leaves all the money for DeMeco! Oh wait, we still have some other key FAs.
