What are your takes on the first half. For me, Schaub looked great, the running game between Dayne and Green looked pretty good also. The defense was ok, but still I dont think Im seeing enough pressure from the front 4 on D. Our DBs seemed to also keep allowing passes. We cant seem to score from the within the Red Zone again. Rosenfals and Jones are looking good too. Also we held them on the 4th down, but since we are having trouble stopping on 3rd down. And I wouldnt say this is a big concern, but I noticed twice already that we're having trouble getting the # of players on the field for special teams. I think thats about it, in my opinion. Feel free to add anything to that, good, bad, and/or what we need to focus on in the future.

I was impressed with Jones, but not so much with Rosenfels. I only saw his play in the first half and some of the 3rd quarter, so I may be missing something, but he seemed a little off tonight. Especially on the play where he stared down his receiver and threw what should have been a pick.

Here we go

1) The offense was impressive and I thought the play calling had Zona guessing. I know Kubiak likes to run but I was glad to see several 1st down passes and especially those over fifteen yardS on the 2nd and 3rd series.
2) Ahman looks strong and quick with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.
3) Schaub was accurate and able to get rid of the ball the couple times he was pressured. O-line looked solid which was comforting. Salaam who I thought was 37 or 38 is only 31. That makes me feel better about the Spencer situation considering he looked solid for today at least.
4) JJ could be a real playmaker for us. His upside is huge and I liked the two reverses to get him involved. And oh yeah punt return TD!
5) Owen Daniels is Schaub's go to guy. He gets open across the middle and appears to be a great option if AJ, Walter, or JJ are covered. Makes me want to reach for him come my FF league.

Overall the offense looks to have a lot of potential considering it's hard to tell what we've got with so many new players. Also the Zona D isn't exactly loaded but they have some good players.

6) The D could not get any pressure almost whatsoever, even when they blitzed. It will be very difficult to be a .500 plus team if this continues. Leinert was 7 of 7 and Warner almost perfect so there is work to be done. They did hold the 1st teamers to 7 points so that helps me deal with the lack of pressure, especially considering the Cards could have a high powered offense. That had a lot to do with the ball control on offense.
7) The run D was pretty stout and the LB's looked good.
8) Dunta has got to be one of the best tackling corners in the league.
9) Mario didn't do too much from what I saw but his game has a lot to do with being a wall. He will never get credited for holding the line but it would be nice to se him get closer to the QB on 3rd downs. Leinert simply had way too much time on 3rd downs.

Overall the offense looked more impressive than the D which was surprising considering I expected it to be the other way around. This could end up being a very solid club if the d-line can get more pressure.

I am a little concerned when I sw that Leinart was 7 for 7 and Warner was not much worse. We will have to see what the coaching staff says about how the game went and what they think. Lets not forget that they are the real eyes out there and can assess what is happening much better than any of us.

Matt L was 7 for 7 but those passes were all mickey! The only long passes he had got called for pass interferance. I don't remember a long pass from Matt. L that was worth notice. Even Carr could could pass/dump off the ball.

Here here!

I would drink to that one!

The 1st string offensive line so far 0 sacks! Now the real test will be with the cowboys. This game is where it will really count on our first string players.

The offense looked awesome and we didn't even field our best lineman (Chester Pitts)...Schaub is everything we thought he would be. Daniels is a hell of a receiver for a TE, JJ is dyn-o-mite....the offense is right on track. Color me impressed.

On defense we still need a passrush...but we have needed one since 2002. Some things never change.

Can you imagine a high powered offense in Houston after years of malaise
? I can't just yet

I had a little laugh over Matt Schaub's delivery. He seems to have a good touch pass at times, and I see that he apparently is throwing some "if my receiver can't get it no one will" balls. At least from the wide ones I saw on a few missed TD passes. What was funny? Have any of you noticed he has this "waiter" delivery on his soft or touch passes? What I mean by that is when he doesn't put velocity on the ball or throws deeper passes it looks like he's throwing a palm ball. His elbow is bent and his hand almost looks palm up like a waiter carrying a tray or someone delivering pizzas.

Call him Mr. Bruno lol!

Although I do agree that our team is looking FANtastic, I think that the O-line could use a little fine tuning. Their pocket presence was great and they kept Schaub well protected, however, their run blocking could improve. It seemed like there were a few missed blocks and maybe some missed assignments that could have opened up some big holes. OVERALL I am thoroughly impressed with the offense. Jones is lighting things up in special teams, Schaub is firing on all cylinders, and our running game is improving with Green.

Our defense is still a work in progress, many people are questioning Okoye but given some time he will pan out. Mario continues to improve (and will end up with a sack soon) and is looking great with Ryans. Our defensive packages have looked fairly weak so far but we don't want to spoil the suprise before we get to the regular season.

Special teams looked a little confused, and Kubiak was letting them hear it, but they got their act together soon enough. Brown looks great on field goals and our kickers are staying healthy!
