Jacoby Jones' performance this preseason has dramatically raised the grade for this year's Texans draft.

I personally don't believe you judge a draft purely on the picks from draft weekend. In other words, I think you have to factor Matt Schaub into the grading.

Having said that, I don't see how the Texans don't get an A for this year's draft considering the number of starters the team acquired all at once: Schaub, Okoye, Jones.

Your thoughts?

If you consider Schaub our second rounder and he continues to impress like last night and JJ this year's Colston with more speed and return ability, then you would have to conclude this offseason to be stellar. Obviously I could be jumpimg the gun but if you get a stud QB and receiver in a draft you made out like a bandit. I'll even give passes on Amobi and MW last year if our middle rounders like Daniels continue to excel. You've got to give the FO a high grade at this point but the question marks on our d-line will conitue to hover over them for now and likely another year or two.

Your thoughts?of the 3 guys you mention, only two of them have shown something in games so far. It's too early to really tell anything yet since we are still in practice games...but I agree that JJ is a pleasant surprise and Schaub is everything they projected him to be.

I agree that Amobi hasn't been a huge thrill to watch yet, but I also don't believe he's being given a starting job ahead of someone who deserves it more simply because we spent so much to get him. Do you? I know that's not terribly high praise, considering the no-names who have filled the Texans d-line roster spots for the past 5 years. But he is a starter and I'm still holding out hope that there's a big upside there....

so far Okoye looks like a boy playing with men...but as I've stated before, Kubiak knows his men better than I do...and I think Kubiak has shown himself to be a heck of a coach so far, so I can't be too critical of injecting Okoye in as a starter yet....we'll see how it goes in the next few weeks.

Couldn't agree more. I'm very happy with that guy. He's not just a terrific X's and O's guy, he's shown a real talent for motivating guys. And a real class act to boot. I hope he sticks around for a long time.

Brod Bunkley didn't start for the Eagles last year and I just saw he is slated to at RDT this year. He was a beast in the weight room and hyped up before the 06' draft but for some reason wasn't doing much on the field. He was a total bust with only 8 solo tackles last year. Their site said "the light came on" for him. Let's hope it can for Mario this year and Amobi at some point but don't be surprised if it takes awhile. It's the nature of that poistion, even for Tommie Harris. High risk high reward but higher bust potential. I guarantee we don't go d-line in a draft on the 1st day certainly 1st round for a long time. Good thing we could have 2 pro bowlers in last year from Demeco and Daniels. If you get one a year you're doin a good job.

I was sold on MW and AO coming in and having immediate impacts, however Im realizing that's just not going to be the case...It's obviously going to take a few seasons for Amobi and Mario to be the players we want them to be.

Like one of you mentioned earlier, thank god we have had very good success with our middle round picks who DID have immediate impacts on this team.

I give the FO an A-. I see things developing that could take us to the super bowl.
