Because my threads time out I have to keep it short.
QB- We actually have depth here. Nice to see Matt make the adjustments that hurt him in the last game. Does a great job of finding TE's to extend drives.
RB - Flashes were shown of what Ahman will mean to this team. The extra efforts were nice to see. Gado is leaving Wali in the dust.
WR - Walter getting open for the second time those things will take away Andre's double teams, Andre is Andre, Jacoby is pushing for #2 seriously and it is nice to have a guy make ESPN highlights in a positive light.
OL - No sacks.....hopefully we can still show that we did upgrade.
DL - Do we have one? TJ is looking like he wants his job back. We did get held alot with no calls but still...
LBs - Diles had a tough day but he looks good for a rook, holding the opponent on 4th and 1 was nice.
DBs - Secondary is looking like they should be called 3rdary. I've supported Petey Faggins but Dexter Wynn is making a name for himself and I think a wake up call is in order. Put Wynn in, as he is constantly making plays in practice too.
Kicking game was nice. Brown 4-4 again.
I think the coaching staff needs to make some roster adjustments to let poeple know that nothing is secure still.

Going into camp we knew there was going to be a battle for the SLB, but who knew it was going to be between Anderson and Clark?

Pretty much a concensus!!!
But, I still think that the D-Line will still pick up the slack sooner rather than later.

I agree and add just a shout out to the following individual performances:
Ron Dayne for running hard
Putzier for continuing to be another good option in the red zone
Dunta for just layin the wood to everyone....dude's playing like he wants it bad.
Demeco for continuing to improve. He's got a radar for the football
Travis Johnson for putting the chicken down and playing some **** football. I like his attitude.
Jason Babin for showing a little dominance from the DE position. My vote for most improved player at this point.
Jacoby Jones for being there in the 3rd round!
And the entire O-line who deserve the biggest props of all, for outstanding pass blocking (need to step up in the run game) and showing the rest of the NFL that good QB play has as much to do with sack totals as bad blocking does.
Honestly people, it is really still the same offensive line we had last year, the difference is, we have a QB who can go through his reads and get the ball off to the receiver on time. This doesn't put us in the long 2nd & 3rd downs that invite the all out rush of years past. All hail to Schaub and Rosey. :D

Because my threads time out I have to keep it short.
QB- They look decent so far, but they have not been tested enough in the blitz. I want to see how the decision making comes to Schaub when the pressure is on.
RB - This right here is the biggest pickup for the Texans in the offseason. Green picks up the defenders like he's been here 10 years. He finds the holes and catches the ball nicely. If Green stays healthy he is a top 10 back.
WR - Looks like the most depth we've ever seen here. Jerome Mathis is becoming a distant name. JJ has now become the 2nd best receiver on the team. Walter is needs to be challenged and i want to see him make a catch in traffic.
OL - O-line is better without Pitts. Studdard needs to start, this guy is a tank. All in all they are playing better but the next game is the real test.
DL - Mario is playing pancake too much. Okoye needs to sit a year. Babin needs to be in every long passing down as well as Kalu.
LBs - they are doing their job well, Demco is just a mature guy at this stage. i actually like Clark in there starting.
DBs - We have one of the weakest cornerbacking corps in the league. No doubt Dunta is one the best tackling CB's, but as a collective they need to make plays.
K - Brown is solid. Turk will the be starting punter. I watched him in warmups and he is booting the ball. I've never seen a more physically looking punter.

couple of things here:
1. Schaub has been blitzed and handled it well...threw a catchable ball to walters that caused an uproar about him not being #2 wr quality
2. Although a great pick up and the fact that I'm stoked we got Ahman but there is no way he is a top 10 back, but he does pick up the blitz very well and that is where his impact will be felt the most.
3. I disagree with you about J. Mathis. He has had an outstanding camp and not only as a returner, but his wr skills have come along very nicely.
4. Pitts has and will continue to be our best player at his position, although I do like Studdard I do not think that he can nor will beat out Pitts on the line unless Pitts doesnt come back from his back sprain.
5. I also disagree with Okoye sitting out a year...he needs to get in there and see what its like to play on this level and needs to work on his game and technique...he will come along nicely as he has been a quick learner and hard determined worker.
The rest I will slightly agree with....EXCEPT FOR CLARK STARTING OVER DEMECO....YOU ARE SERIOUSLY SMOKING SOMETHING IF YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT.

I would add only one thing, I think that Fred Bennett will beat out Faggins this year for the #2 cornerback position.

say gamehorn...can you break down bennett and what he brings to the table?? I noticed your a gamecock fan so I'm assuming that you've watched him play throughout his college career also...

I think he meant starting Clark at SLB over Anderson and Orr.

I would also like someone to take Petey's job at 2, but I dont see that guy beeing Bennet. If you have reason to think otherwise I would like to hear it...

Why catch in traffic, if you don't have to.

yes sure, he was the #2 CB for a couple of years under Jonathan Joseph for one year, and I don't remember who before that... He was tutored by D-Rob in his freshman year... He is great at knocking the ball away, but he is not as much of an interception threat. His career high for interceptions was 4 in his sophomore year.
I remember one time during last year where he and another Safety were covering Marcus Monk, Arkansas's best receiver, and they threw the ball to him, Fred and the other guy kept bobling it and didn't catch it, and it made its way into Monk's hands, and he scored right before halftime. We ended up loosing that game by a touchdown...
They ended up rotating the CBs a lot under Spurrier, and so he knows how to make it to the top.
I read in the local newspaper, that he followed his brother out of high school, his brother was the team leader at RB, and he left, and during Bennett's senior year, he took over the reigns and became the leader of the team.
He is a great player, but don't expect too many interceptions.

He doesn't have to intercept the ball, just keep it out of the receiver's hands.

That was what I was saying, he is great at keeping it out of the receiver's hands... Many people may not like him because he is not a "ball-hawk" but he is still very good.

Maybe you should give the GM and HC props for having the guts to realize it wasn't always the lines fault, and then cutting the guy whos fault it was.
